Abhyanga is not recommend during pregnancy. Because abhyanga can stimulate detoxification, the fetus could become exposed to ama. That said, there is certainly a place for therapeutic touch and light massage during pregnancy-just not the practice of traditional abhyanga, which is quite vigorous and stimulating. Great question! Abhyanga is traditionally done before showering, so you can incorporate it into either your morning or evening routine 💚

Ideally Abhyanga would be done every day as part of your daily routine, or what is known as Dinacharya in Ayurveda. Having daily practices is one of the most nurturing ways to honor and ground yourself.

Is the oil not washed off with soap during bath?
