I love Ren and have been a fan a long time. I recently came across your reactions and have been watching them especially the ones about Ren because all of his songs have so many layers I like to get other people's perspectives on them. There's something in this song I feel like you missed and a lot of people seem to miss it and I think it's very important, a message in the message. He's saying greed is generational, in the song, Jimmy's whole life his father keeps telling him "do more", "it's not good enough", "you don't have enough", so in order to make his father proud he does more and more and more, then his father died, he died before his father told him it was enough, before he told him he's proud, so after he died Jimmy just keeps going and going and going, still hearing his father say "it's not enough" because his father wasn't around to say otherwise. There's a meaning there about the impact we have on our children and how we can run out of time to tell them what they really need to hear from us. Because of that the generational greed will continue. Because our kids pass that on to their kids.

Oh rain rain rain rain… The first time I saw this during the premiere I just sat in shocked silence afterwards and the only coherent thought I could think was that if Netflix doesn’t give this master storyteller his own show, they’re fools. Since then one of the things that gets me the most is the father telling a FIVE YEAR OLD to learn to be a man. No child at that age should think about anything but being a child. Far too many reactors let that part slide, but it really says so much about the toxic parenting. If you let those first words from the father properly sink in, it’s not so surprising that things only get worse from there. Unfortunately, Jimmy ends up living for his father’s approval. He hangs on his every word and follows his guidance so much that he gets completely lost when the father is no longer there. So instead of finding freedom, he spirals. And Jimmy is just an exaggerated version of all of us. It could be anyone under the money bag, blinded by greed, with the wrong guidance and pressure. Ren makes it so painfully clear that we really must instill the right values in children before it’s too late. And we all need to do better TOGETHER if we don’t want greed to destroy us all. So much wisdom, and he shares it all through clever rhymes, genius storytelling, and beautiful music. A truly special artist and one that the world needs 🐰🕳️

This is perhaps the funniest reaction of this song of I have seen, you have nothing to apologise for to us, seeing someone so incapable of concealing their crush is always hilarious especially when paired with such a quick wit and good sense of humour. Combining the hilarity with a genuine openness and enjoyment of the song and music and aprreciation of rens talent made this a fantastic video and I am very eager to see more from this channel, usually watching reactions to rens song is just a fun way to reexperience them and see someone elses interpretations but you actually added a lot to it to make it a video worth watching in its own right. Curious which you will end up checking out after the "m" one, its kinda hard to pick ones to reccomend since Ren doesnt really have bad songs so whichever you pick i am sure will be great, the only advice I can give is kinda obvious given the title but still worth doubling down on if you havent seen it already the song and video Su!cide by ren is amazing but absolutely devastating so only attempt when feeling fully prepared.

Hiya Abigal, caught up with your reaction. I agree with you in that his father was nurturing his son's burgeoning talent, nothing wrong with that. For (probably) the vast majority of parenting stories, it's a perfect story. But of course, this is Ren and he is bringing us a story of nurture that takes a more sinister path. It is exceptional, but it can and likely does happen. Your shout out to Sam is spot on, he's a genius too. MG2 was done in Covid lockdown, hence a lyric video, still brilliant. You mentioned doing "M" not money game next, so I see it was Murderer, I'll take a look at that soon. No doubt comments on here have suggested the acoustic version too, I would echo that. I was lucky enough to catch Ren's SGP concert in July this year, superb!

If you like antagonist Ren, and want to see/hear a little bit more of Samuel, i HIGHLY recommend checking out their song/video 'What Went Wrong'. There is a part 2 (song, no video) as well! And as with all their stuff, the video itself is a little deeper than what lies on the surface. They're so damn good together. Also, Money Game pt. 1 is what sold me on their cinematic chops. I saw it after Hi Ren and realized that it was also a 1 shot and live mic video, and the lyrics were just incredible. It's a pwerful video and message. Do check it out!

The first one is cinematic, a bit like this one, though less involved. The lyric video is anything but "just", as others have said; I think you'll appreciate it, and appreciate reacting to it. Small piece of trivia for this one - when the violinist's bow got wet from the "rain" spreading too far, she held her position as much as possible, which was amazing. What was even more amazing was that Ren insisted on replacing her bow because it got wet. Standup guy, Ren :)

Another brilliantly fun reaction ! So Ren composed virtually all of the music in Money Game 3 (including strings). He seems to be able to turn his hand to most instruments (highly proficient on guitar and piano, can play some drums and also cello). Amazing that in a 9 minute song he can provide incredible social commentary - it really is a gift and fortunately there are a number of other songs in that realm. So if it is the "M" I'm thinking of then there could well be an acoustic version as well as the video - make sure to do both if that is the case as the versions are pretty different to each other. You're not the first to get distracted by a Ren video and we really wouldn't want that to keep happening so I definitely will not recommend you adding a Ren busking video of him covering Nirvana's Heart Shaped Box to your list - just so we are absolutely clear 😉

Money Game 3 does stand alone a fair bit more than his other trilogies, but the complete pic is as always shown when all three are done :) The first Money Game was done years before he got famous and it took 186 takes over 3 days with him, Samuel and a friend working out of a friends basement to put together with zero budget. Money Game two was meant to be another 1 take MV but Ren was not well and the take they got through to the end it turned out half the audio was missing (that is still available which is why people specifically mention the lyric vid). So he did a lyric vid with the full song in the studio (a.k.a. his bedroom). Money Game 3 was the first Ren MV to be done that cost over $1,000 USD and is filmed as two takes. It was meant to be a 1 take but they had issues with the rain machine so they did the cut at the wheelchair turn. You can understand why this one won several international awards for cinematography earlier this year.
