Ah yes, the good old classic French fairy tale, "Beauty and the Beast" or "La Belle et la Bete!" Join me for this long, quiet ASMR storytelling of a romantic (is it Romance? Resignation? Something more than the provincial life?) fairytale. Things work out for MOST everybody, except for Belle's unfortunately snobbish sisters, who get turned into stone forever more? Also, YEAH! Belle has a FAIRY lady who appears in a dream. Wow. Anyway, be my guest and do get comfy and cozy and follow me into this enchanting tale. This story, Marie Le Prince de Beaumont's "Beauty and the Beast," is read in a soft voice and set to some light and soft background music. I think the Beast’s mom is the definition of badass, yet caring mafia type. She fought so many wars and flattened them all, she’s a lieteral warrior queen, and she STILL loves her son so much. She’s got to be my new favorite character

My da used to tell me a version of this story that I think he made up, but in his version the reason Beast would die if Belle left because the fae who attended the castle or the one faery who cast the spell (I can't remember which) bound the heart of Beast to Beauty so that if she left him for good, he would lose his heart and die

im super late to the party but im here for research to write my own retelling of the tale too! its set in a more fantastical version of ancient Japan, and the genders of the beauty and the beast are reversed, so beauty is a boy and the beast (or oni, in this case) is a girl.

This is the version of the story I grew up with. It was made into a movie long before Disney did it's thing. It was my favorite fairy tail because I have a birth defect. My right side is abnormally larger than the left, and my right hand is deformed. I am also dyslexic. I guess deep down I wished I could find a Bell. But fairy tales aren't real. Monsters don't get the girl.

And your relaxing voice eased stresses of my day 🌌 Also, your very brief thoughts sprinkled throughout the story actually made it more enjoyable. What I think is if the beauty/belle is so virtuose than why did she not ask the fairy at the end to spare her two sisters who in allfairness deserved a bad fate? But it seems also just living with theyr husbands would be punishment enough. It seems that she at the end still wanted her sisters to suffer wich by all accaounts yes they kinda deserved but also no that shows how vengefull and malishious she could actually be and I fear for her future than

@David Martín... Beauty... "malicious"?!? Because she didn't ask for mercy for them?... You're arguing from silence: >nothing's mentioned either way< whether she said or didn't say anything on their behalf. And they're not the focus of the story anyways, so extra details are not always given in fairytales. It could go unspoken that Beauty *did plead for them, but that the fairy declined (Beauty's the one who wanted to send them the beautiful dresses but her [and their own] father refused). After all, it's given that the sisters aren't cursed like the beast was;:rather >it is entirely in their power< to have the punishment removed *as soon as they own up to their actions etc. The fairy specifies that they're *not inert but have awareness. And it's true, as she says, that it would be a kind of miracle for them to change the kind of persons they've been up till then. If, as you contend, Beauty actually deliberately didn't speak up for her sisters, even if that were true, it wouldn't make her "malicious (if you pick that label, then the fairy is guilty, not Beauty): at *no time in the story does Beauty wish ot cause harm to anyone. In fact, she repeatedly goes out of her way to try to be helpful and accommodating to others, even when it's difficult or not to her benefit. In thr story, she's portrayed as being helpful, generous and gracious to a fault. So it doesn't fit to conclude that at the end she wasn't.
