I really enjoy my bikes with MicroShift Acolyte, Advent and Advent X. No issues with any of them.. Best budget wide range groupsets on the market.

Try a27.2 dropper with a shim......not sure what size the able seatpost is yet but if 30.9 or bigger the 27.2 will go down further through the cuved seat tube.

I just a minute ago suggested the same thing. @jasonkroll Back in the 90's using shims was all the rage with suspension seat posts that came in few sizes and the industry was still making frames with dozens of sizes.

Great video as usual! It’s good to see so many decent bikes coming to play in the sub $500 range. I like to upgrade my bikes to my taste anyway, so it’s great to see. Good stuff, and great review, my dudes! Have a great weekend!

Thanks, Greg! We are hoping that some more bikes will trickle down to us "budget" bike builders. We love upgrading to our taste regardless if it's what everyone else thinks we should do. This sport should be about fun, not bike snobbery. Thanks for the always positive vibes👍

Its a great bike to start out on . I started out on the gt agressor and would of prefered this bike because of the groupset. A dropper post wouldnt be on a beginners mind so doesnt matter too much about seatpost clearance i think as wasnt on my radar when starting out. Tyres more xc focused so good grip and less rolling ressitance to stop beginners getting worn out as they could on fatter tyres

I spotted this and the Able Sport, which for $50 more, gets you Advent 9 and hydro discs, a few days ago after surfing over to Kent's website. Price has gone up $20 on this, though. I have been fascinated by the evolution of big box bikes like the Schwinn Axum, Kent Trouvaille, and Ozark Trail Ridge. I ride a carbon full suspension and also have an e-bike, so these budget bikes ought to be the furthest thing from what I want. It is fun to see what you can do with these. I'm currently testing out a $150 Decathlon ST520 I got on clearance. It's far better than I expected. Keep on doing what y'all do! I enjoy the content!

Almost got into a head-on with another mtbr today, I wish it was on video because it was a brilliant save, The other guy eas most definitely another pro such as myself... 😂 One of those going around a blind corner, thank the Lord we were both going just under cruising speed, probably between 6 - 8 mph, anyways it was a beautiful save!!! And then I came home and spilt a full VooDoo IPA right in my lap and that was awesome too !😳🙄🤣😏👍

Microshift wants you to adjust the Acolyte shifting with clutch in gauged. Acolyte runs good with a longer B screw and the 11-48T Advent X cassette/shifter. It works! Same pull ratio.....

Great video, I have to disagree with the tapered comment, a decent tapered air fork with lockout starts at around 500$, which would make this an 850$ dollar bike. That would defeat the purpose, if it turns out to be a decent bike then just spend money on the contact points like grips, seat, pedals and possibly tires. Just ride the bike and fork into the ground, you’ll decide if this sports for you way before you need to drop hundreds on a fork for a 300$ bike. If you love riding use the money toward a better bike
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS
@WOLFTICKVIDEOS Жыл бұрын
I get what you are saying, but I disagree. Bike frames don't change dramatically for the most part until well into the thousands. If you like the bike, you could invest into a $600-$700 dollar fork and move it from bike to bike as you grow into the sport. Either way, it's a fun topic and sport. Thanks for watching and commenting👍
@TheArimatheus
@TheArimatheus Жыл бұрын
@jasonroper7154 - you're neglecting the "slightly or barely used" secondhand market - you can get nice air forks pulled as OEM in both straight and tapered for under $200 with shipping.
@TheArimatheus
@TheArimatheus Жыл бұрын
If you're just starting out in the sport, especially if you're too young for a job or just fiscally aware and don't wanna waste money, buy a cheap complete bike. You'll either decide you don't like the sport and be out just $500 or less; or you'll fall in love with it and learn all the areas where the bike "isn't quite right" and you upgrade from there a piece at a time.

I'd love to se you guys do a review of the Microshift XCD derailleur and shifter. It's supposed to be on Par with their AdventX but a little bit less expensive, or atleast comparable in price to AdventX. It's 11-speed and has a clutch and it's supposedly Shimano compatible, whatever that means.

Interesting bike, I will say it looks like it has a very short reach and the front end looks high, but that could just be an illusion, you’ll have to let us know. For an internal dropper….. just a thought but is there room to squeeze another cable into the front end and then just take it up the inside of the seat tube through the bottom bracket shell??
@TheArimatheus
@TheArimatheus Жыл бұрын
@wolfticknation - would it be possible to use a 27 mm dropper post that would have a little more angular movement south and use a shim? And the curve might not be as pronounced on the medium.

16:10 that sucks. Shame about the dropper post. I am not a fan of internal routing, at least this one is not too tricky. The advantage of tapered head tube is is better load capacity, it can handle heavier loads better. Over a decade ago Specialized tried to solve this with CNC machined head tube, it was massively thick at the top and bottom and normal in the middle. A tapered head tube probably makes the most difference for freeride, enduro, downhill, dirt jumping, for extreme freeride. But I don't know if the straight steerer was an issue, and at which point.

So you haul a cut down seat post with a seat on it to the top of the trail and then switch it out at the top hahaha. Is it just me, or does the chain look like an odd color of silver?…like almost white? Is it aluminum? Overall a cool looking bike and decent groupset.

I understand. The reason I actually prefer the 44-44 is just the versatility. You can run straight steerer without adapter, a tapered conversion headset, and a slacker tapered conversion headset that gives an additional 2 degrees of slack.

25:22 The bent seat tube is absurd. Steeper seat tube angle, longer reach would improve this frame massively. Outdated geo, apart from the standover, on this size at least it's great. A mistake many brands do is the stand over suffers on larger frames.

Perhaps they put their focus on building a base bike for dirt jumpers. If I were 12-14 years old with a limited budget and didn't know whether I wanted to be XC, freeride, DJ, downtrail, etc - this bike would give you a base to grow from and find your specialty.
