Ableton Live 12: Is it worth upgrading from 11?

Great video. I'm a current 10 license holder and I will probably use the discount to upgrade to 12 (mostly to add Comping for guitar, which I'm currently missing without 11). Is there a book that you'd recommend for getting more familiar with how to fully use Ableton? Thanks!

Thank you! I think the comping is a great feature, well worth it. In terms of learning, I didn't use books at all, I had 2 broad approaches. 1) I watched KZbin videos to get ideas and to help solve issues I was having, and 2) I used Ableton a lot. I think you are doing the right thing; watching videos and building your skills and knowledge, so keep going, and get that 'always learning' vibe into your workflow, so you are eventually solving all your own problems, and probably helping others too as well! As a long time Intro user (10 and 11) I think the inclusion of the synths (Analog, Collision, Electric, and Tension) now in the Standard version is what put it over the top for me in terms of upgrading.

I'm on 10 so I think I'll take the opportunity to now only upgrade from standard, but also to suite. They're saying on the website if I upgrade to 11 I'll get 12 for free - I assume this also means the exact version but can't find confirmation ._.

Good point. I can see "Save 20% on Live 11 now and upgrade to Live 12 for free" on the website, but I can't see any more information. I would assume that you get the exact version you upgrade (e.g. suite) but probably worth dropping a note to Ableton to see if they can clarify! If you find, would you mind posting here?

I took this opportunity to finally upgrade from Standard to Suite Live 11 - upgrade only, no update. When I authorized it, the only option available to authorize was "Live 12 Suite," so it does indeed seem to work, even if you're just upgrading. @@olivergearing

It's a bit misleading - I thought that meant it's a free upgrade from Live 11, but it's only if you purchase from them after October 2023.
