This is so helpful. Thank you. The way you dialed in the slower pitch on the sample to the increased bpm sounded so nice. what a sick technique

the newest version of ableton lives warping has improved massively. seriously check it out again. it can warp it for you. you can then pick your own tempo and it will stay in time. for this type of song though set it to complex pro instead of beats

I need to check that out. Thank you!

when i turn off warp it still messes with the sample time when I tap the tap tempo. wtf ? so annoying
@Crispybeats.2 жыл бұрын
Hi man, that is strange. There is a setting in the Ableton preferences 'auto warp long samples'. I would turn that off so that when you import a long sample, ableton doesn't automatically try to warp it. Once imported, it should remain exactly the same. If you don't turn warp 'on', you should be able to change the project BPM without affecting the sample.

For the pitch method, how would you pitch it back to the original pitch once the tempos been changed? I find ableton's stock plugin sounds a bit rough...

hey there, super happy i came across your videos & listened some of your music & put some peace in my day. aside from the music which im looking forward to picking up some tips, wanted to ask what video editing software you use & is it the camera or a specific setting that creates the quality of your videos. i love the calming color & softness vibe of it all. im probably getting way too ambitious lol, i should be focused more on making music, but very curious & i guess preparing for future performance on youtube. well thanks and advance for all you are & doing for the producer community 💕

Hello! I’m extremely sorry for the late reply. I make a point to reply to every single comment and this one must have just got lost amongst notifications. I’m glad you like the video! I’m using Filmora Pro to edit my videos. However I wouldn’t recommend this software as it has many bugs. Filmora standard is a great software for starting out (I used to use it). But for more advanced tools, I would look elsewhere. My camera is a Sony a6300. I shoot in S-Log2. Iso800. I use 2 lamps to create enough light. Lighting is much more important than camera settings so if I were you I would invest in good lamps. I am new to the camera stuff and it’s a learning journey for me too! It’s a slow process to learn everything but very fun! Enjoy it!

ya, i have a question why should we use sampler or simpler instead of use audio section for chopping samples ?
@Crispybeats. Жыл бұрын
its totally up to preference, that's the beauty of using a daw. If you use sampler/simpler, you can then playback the samples while you are chopping them, also I find it is a lot more versatile. But sometimes I chop and pitch as an audio track then drop into a drum rack for playback. Just depends!
@bruceisdabatman Жыл бұрын
Can we use slicing mode(manual) to chop it up ?
@Crispybeats. Жыл бұрын
@@bruceisdabatman yes of course! There is a manual slicing mode in simpler. You can do whatever you want to reach your desired result in the most comfortable and creative way possible for you! 😃

i really dont understand how you know when it sounds right with the metronome and pitching it up or down. its not in time when you said it sounds good so what are you looking to hear if its not matching tempo, im confused
@Crispybeats. Жыл бұрын
Hey man, I’m really sorry for the late reply. 2 things: 1. You are right, it does sound slightly out. This is because vintage samples like this one were originally recorded without a metronome therefore don’t have a set BPM, but instead speed up and slow down with a natural human feel. With experience you tune your ear to these BPM movements and, even though the sample isn’t perfectly in time with the project BPM, it’s the closest you can get it to be without warping. 2. You can use the grid to help you. If your sample is 8 bars long. Look at the Ableton grid. Once the sample matches 8 grid bars, then you have the correct bpm 👍🏼 Hope that helped!!
@Dennistube001 Жыл бұрын
perhaps you could set your tempo to 114 then press the -x2 button to half its speed back to 57

i also am experiencing this issue. i turn warp off & it still warps as i tap.@@Crispybeats.
@Crispybeats. Жыл бұрын
@@Crimsonshroom hmm that’s really strange. Try to switch off auto warping in preferences and try dragging the sample into the project from your finder/file explorer.

i didnt like his second option because hes changed the key. it wont match other parts of a song unless you lock them to the same key

Why couldn’t you just set the sample to 82 bpm in the first half of the video instead of having to adjusting the pitch to match?
