For younger people who didn't live through seeing this when it aired, this was right smack in the middle of the religious right's grip on America and Troops being praised for their service in the Iraq war. It was legit shocking to hear someone talk about these issues like this at the time, which is exactly why Carlin was so valuable and ahead of the game. How can George's official page put this up without including the opening quote which is one of his most famous? I love this bit but it's incomplete without hearing "Why is it that most of the people who are against abortion are people you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place?"

I wish I were alive when George Carlin was. The person I was when I was younger needed to hear these things, even if I wouldn't have taken them seriously then, because I absolutely do now. I'd have had words to attach to the injustice I see around me before I became an unknowing victim of them, a starting point to fight back with. I wish we still had more people like him
