Watching this while cuddling my 3 week old son that I was told at 22 weeks gestation likely had trisomy 13 or trisomy 18, both of which are fatal conditions that he probably wouldn’t have survived past the first week after birth. The doctor was wrong. Once we learned she was wrong, the doctor was concerned he’d need surgery within days after birth because his throat wasn’t connected to his stomach. They were wrong again. Abortion due to “medical reasons” is more unconscionable to me now than it’s ever been…. Not because the doctors were wrong in my case (praise God) but because the entire time I believed my baby might die shortly after birth the idea of having him dismembered in my womb instead of dying naturally in my arms repulsed me.

As a woman of the 70’s, I’ve always been a proponent of women’s rights. As I got older, was saved and grew in my faith as a Protestant and then converted to Catholicism this year, I find an almost constant churn in my stomach, seeing the dignity of life more deeply, and how it is assaulted worldwide. As a simple example, people with Asthma don't want to carry an inhaler around just in case. But some medically need it to not die as they are easily prone to having a life threatening Asthma attack. The person doesn't really want to carry the inhaler but they may choose to do so since they don't want to die. It is unfortunate that you're unaware that there are medical complications at nearly every stage of pregnancy and some of them are as I described. You don't have to agree that the choice should be available but it is useful to know that situations like this can come up so that when you discuss it with people you can choose your path of argument more appropriately.

I had a baby that was born nearly a month early. It was then that my eyes were opened to the reality of 3rd trimester abortion, and what kinds of children are at risk. All I wanted to do when I saw my son for the first time was protect him and keep him healthy and safe, even more so because he was so tiny and vulnerable. It's so true abortion activists want more, more and more. I'm from Italy and our abortion law is basically "you should not, but if you have to you must talk to a physician or a social worker and try to see if we can do something for you to not abort the baby" and you can do it only up to the third month, and also doctors can't be mandated do do it (and the majority does not). What do "women rights activists" ask? Mandating doctors to practice abortions, not trying to prevent it, not letting the state work with ONG helping mothers, raising the ceiling for abortion... They're not pro-choice, they're blatantly pro death.

I know a mom with her husband , after knowing that the fetus had a heart condition that’s inoperable even after the baby is born ( will only live about an hour after birth), made the decision to carry the baby to full term and let her go into labor naturally. Baby was born alive healthy looking . They held the baby, took pictures, and stayed with their baby surrounded by family and extended . Baby died an hour later. The parents were at peace that they did not abort their baby and allowed the baby to be born with dignity.

The "mental" health excuse is incredibly upsetting to me. I was 14 when I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy daughter. I became pregnant after being attacked when I was 13 by an 18 year old brother of a friend. I was far too young to raise her, unfortunately love isn't enough. I hand-picked the family for her. Was that mentally difficult? Of course it was. Was my heartbreak more important than her whole life? Absolutely not. I know, without a doubt, that murdering her would have been *FAR* more traumatizing. She now has a daughter.. meaning her baby wouldn't even exist if I had killed her. I have met her daughter because my daughter and I reunited after 27 years. Never once have I regretted her life. Never once.

Up to 31 weeks? That's crazy! We lost a baby at 31 weeks due to placental abruption, if it wasn't for poor advise from a midwife we may have got to the hospital in time to save our son. Babies born at 31 weeks usually have a very good chance of survival (95%). I'm not sure about America but in the UK a baby is legally a person at 24 weeks, that means that the hospital will do everything in their power to save a baby prematurely born at 24 weeks and in the unfortunate case of death you will get a birth and death certificate (if born alive and suffers a neonatal death) or just a death certificate (if stillborn). Still bothers me how your baby isn't legally considered a person until 24 weeks, anyone who is trying for a baby will most likely see the baby as a baby and not just a ball of cells as soon as you find out your pregnant.

While on night shift as a resident in neonatology, i was asked to go see an abortus who was still gasping. I went n saw this scrawny baby in a kidney dish gasping away. He was 25 weeks old. Abortion is legal in our country up to 24 weeks. I intubated him and brought him back to our ICU. He survived. His name is Matthew. Personally know of 2 other ppl who were nearly aborted but whose mums changed their minds after counseling. 😢
