I find it amazing how two guys from opposite sides of the world, from completely different backgrounds and cultures found each other through their shared passion for jazz and built a lasting friendship. Something about their friendship touched me and honestly I'd like to have delved deeper into the story. Unfortunately, the camera was struggling to handle the low light of the dimly lit bar, so we had to cut the video a bit shorter than usual. The good news is because of this frustrating situation, I recently invested in a new - much better - camera with a few decent lenses, meaning can tackle all manner of dimly lit rooms in future.

@Giannirey jazz exists outside of just music and art. Jazz is a movement of errant individualism, of not just subverting traditional conventions but it taking them and reshaping them into something that’s entirely new and your own. You don’t have to be a musician to do that. The creative and errant individual = one who lives the jazz style of life.

The way this man talks about jazz fans not having the spirit of jazz, I feel like that sums up most jazz fans in the UK perfectly. It's seen as the preserve of middle aged middle class white men in cardigans who would probably be terrified if they bumped into the musicians outside of the club! Jazz is about poverty, it's about longing, it's about something you can't sell or put into words. It's not about owning the most Miles Davis albums or having the cash to go to Ronnie Scott's every weekend. Viva la jazz!
