Abronia graminea should be 5/5 in my opinion. Super easy to care for indoors. They like room temp. Great eaters. Super inquisitive, intelligent, and friendly if handled. A little tricky to breed in my experience BUT the fact they give birth to live lizards and nots eggs is awesome. Oh and the non dropping prehensile tail! Love it.

It's like a deity made a malachite (or malachite-inspired gold and green enamel) lizard sculpture and was so impressed with their creation they brought it to life so it could make more of itself and everyone else could enjoy them too. Beautiful.

I go between these and ackies as my “summit” reptile. Both super cool little lizards. Ackies seem a little smarter and have more opportunities for enrichment but these Abronias are so beautiful and regal looking. I also love the slow and deliberate way they look around and move.

What a beautiful little creature! I have kept pet alligator lizards local to where I live off and on over the years (and they were incredibly docile, but I have seen super aggro ones too), and find them to be incredible pets but don't keep them anymore as I want them to stay wild. I can see a lot of the same mannerisms on these guys, they just LOOK intelligent. Beautiful animals, I seriously hope they stick around and don't become endangered, that would be absolutely heartbreaking.

Please do more on Abronia, Clint! There is so little good information for them out there, and there are so many species besides the green abronia that are critically in danger and its so important to keep a captive breeding populations. My dream is to have breeding colonies in outdoor enclosures for as many insurance colonies of as many abronia species as possible.

Alligator lizards, crocodile skinks, beaded lizards and plated lizards! Those guys are just the few of the ones I'd like to get into and more knowledge on. Anyway does anyone here know a breader for these guys??? I'm going to pnwrs in Hillsboro Oregon on the 14th and would luv to bring one of these guys home to breed and populate and get to understand there eating breeding and habitat behavior!!! I ran into a couple of alligator lizards in my life. One time when I was visiting my grandmother in El Sobrante & a second time at UC Berkeley, the one at Berkeley lost its tail. Both had their mouths wide open & ready to bite. I was only able to pick up the first one. I found a pair of ticks on its neck & I was able to pick them off.

If you’re using a screen enclosure and you don’t mind you’re room being a lil warm then I use a space heater (with a built in thermostat) and it’s actually been amazing. But for convince the lowest watt you can find (I think it’s a 25 watt) heat lamp as they are really sensitive to heat.

Hey Clint! At about 9:15 or so into the video you're talking about proper UVB and reference the coil-type "CFL" bulbs. Per the manufacturers these only produce usable UVB for just a few inches and only directly under the bulb. I would only ever recommend the linear or "tube" fluorescent lights for UVB. Love the video! I really value how you bring so many reptiles I'd never heard of to KZbin.

Great video! One thing I’d like to mention is if you live in a dry and arid place like I do, glass tanks are recommended to hold humidity. Tall Exo Terra tanks provide great ventilation and maintain the high humidity levels these creatures need. Also, they drink TONS of water so be sure to mist a couple times a day

This lizard is so adorable. His eyes don't have those "devil look"..round pupils always get me..I would love to have a place big and grand enough to have several Tagus like Gus Gus and this Arboreal alligator lizard..so gorgeous

I've gotta watch this one again. That lizard...jaw dropping, and you guys with your fine camera work. The close up game is based, as they say. I recall the appreciate the close ups, personally.
