Glad to finally add a new member to the team. Absol has been one I hope that will get more love in the future. Maybe Z-A will add something for Absol along with the long awaited Mega Flygon.

For me I was hoping they would fix absol's typing. Seems like it is missing something and pure dark type just feels wrong somewhere.

@@EpicPoketunes So, I thought so too until I did some digging and realized that being pure dark type is the point of its design. Absol is designed with idea of humans thinking that the Pokémon is the reason for the disaster. Absol design after the Bai Ze from chinese mythology which is a misunderstood creature that protects humans from evil spirits. Dark types are called Evil types in Japan. So, to most people, hearing a evil type pokemon entered the area before a disaster happens makes it the obvious reason for the disaster to human who are not observant. Think of how black cats are viewed as evil or the subject to superstition in the different parts of the world due their association to witches and other evil beings. "A black cat crossing your path is bad luck" is the idea. In reality, it is not the cat's fault. If the cat was another type, no one would care. If Absol was dual type with fairy, normal, or even ghost type, the rumors would not work as well on why it is blamed for the disasters with hatred. Ghost and fairy types are viewed as mischievous. So most people have the "Oh you little trickster" attitude like impidimp (who in literally based on a small demon.) If normal type was added then people would not immediately jump to the conclusion that Absol is the reason because it is not "pure" dark or "pure" evil type. Mega absol is my favorite part. It shows that it has inspiration from the sphinx from Egyptian mythology. A sphinx is the closest you can get to an "evil" guardian angel as you can get to. Sphinxes are viewed as dark creatures that will do anything to protect what they were tasked to protect which is the same description as Gardevoir except she is a creature of light so she is good creature. Hope all of this made sense and maybe answered some questions.

Since black cat are normally associated with witches and other evil beings, they are evil too. If the cat was a different type, no one would care if it crossed their path. Dark type is known as Evil type in Japan. Since Absol is pure dark type, it is immediately blamed for the disasters that it is trying to warn about. If Absol was a fairy, ghost, or normal type or was dual type with one of them, it would not work. Fairy and Ghost types are viewed as tricksters most of the time, so no one would care or just laugh it off. Normal type would not work because humans would think it is not completely evil so maybe it is a coincidence. I really like the Mega form because it truly shows what it is. The Mega is similar in design to a sphinx which is normally viewed as an evil guardian. In reality, a sphinx is a dark creature that is tasked with protecting what it needed to protect. This is the same idea given to Gardevoir, but since she is a creature of light, and somewhat based on a literal guardian angel, she is viewed as a good guardian. Hopefully this cleared up some misunderstandings for poor Absol.

Tunédex Side Notes #61: We entered found ourselves in a historical town. I was warned by traveling merchants that these people were very superstitious and would view my dragonborn appearance with hostility. If it wasn’t for the fact that I had a goal to visit everywhere and see all the Pokemon of the world, I would have never entered this are. However, I am glad I did. To hid my appearance, I wore clothing similar what the people from the desert would wear which was design to cover my entire body except for around my eyes. If anyone asked, I was a traveling scholar. It seemed to work. Aside from a few glances, we were left alone. We continued through the town until we heard a commotion from further into the town. We investigated it and found the townsfolk attacking a white and black Pokemon. They were throwing rocks and other things at the poor creature. Suddenly, a nearby house caught fire and the townsfolk diverted their attention to putting out the fire. The Pokemon limped away while they were distacted. I decided to investigate more on the disasters. I quickly found out that the Pokemon was called an Absol and that whenever it is seen, something bad happens soon after. I checked each of the disasters that happened. After a small bit of investigation, almost all of the “disasters” were due to faulty devices or poor construction. Lucario told me that Absol’s aura was not full of malevolence. He was certain that Absol was not evil. Gardevoir and Ceruledge agreed with him. Before we could do anything else, the Absol’s den found. The villagers were ready this time. They attacked the Absol with anything that they could use as a weapon. I had enough. I reveled my draconic appearance and roared at them. The fear that washed over the people would have been comical if these people weren’t superstitious jerks. They ran away as I unleashed a few bolts of lightning at them for good measure. The Absol was lying in great pain. I went to check its wounds when it started to growl at me. I could tell that it was scared of me. I just stood there watching. After a bit of time, it stopped growling and began to lick its wounds. I could see that it had scars from previous attacks from the villagers. I moved to start treating it wounds. At first, it attacked me trying the defend itself. I endured the clawing and biting and just focused all my energy on treating its wounds. After a bit, the Absol realized that I was trying to help it. It stopped attacking me and just watched as I carefully applied medicine and bandages to its injuries. After I finished, I noticed tears in its eyes as it cuddled up next to me. I knew at that moment that I could not leave it behind especially since the village knew where its home was. I picked it up and carried out my new friend out of the den. In the distance, I could see the village was in pandemonium. The large bridge that leads into the town had collapsed and was set ablaze. I saw my team close by with big grins on their faces. I asked them if they did anything to the bridge. Lucario and Gardevoir denied any involvement. Ceruledge, on the other hand, just chuckled and commented that being a vengeful spirit can be a pain and a benefit sometimes. I shook my head in disbelieve. I turned everyone’s attention to our newest member of the team. The Absol pressed itself against me in fear until Gardevoir got involved. She somehow convinced the Absol that we were all its friends and, for the first time out of many, it wagged its tail in pure happiness.

Yay! Finally, my second favorite Pokémon of All-time! Always loved his design, either in normal or Mega form! Not to mention its debut in Jirachi: Wishmaker with that epic, deep voice (Thanks to Eric Stuart. Yes. He voiced him). And Drew's Absol was awesome in the Kanto Grand Festival, making me like that rival even more. Such an awesome Pokemon. No wonder I used a certain one in another fan-fic of mine, where he meets a certain Pokémon of Ash’s... As well as, possibly, gets in the battle of a lifetime... Well done as usual.

Absol should have been a legendary or mythical pokemon, I don't care what anyone else says. In fact, I actually use to think it was one when I was younger because of the Jirachi movie and first mystery dungeon game. (I never played the gen 3 games as a kid if you couldn't tell.)

There are a few Pokémon that are often mistaken as mythical or legendary. Absol is a common one! For me I thought spiritomb and rotom were mythical
