I’ve been adding mixed media and collage to gel prints. I’m very happy with the results so far.
This is a flip through of my abstract art journal.
I briefly discuss thought processes, decisions and techniques used.

@@quirkyqueens I'm not sure of that. Eons ago I did some bad sculpting videos. ;-) Maybe at some point. Mostly right now I'm trying to restart an art practice. Glad I could point some people your way. I love the experiments you share.

Oh well done on getting your artwork into a journal! A big huge gold star for you. Lovely prints. I really like the one at 17:30. (I'm eyeballing my cardbord box overflowing with prints and the stack of empty journals.)

It was quite meditative colouring in shapes with edges and a block colour, a change from the norm. I need to do more with the prints that come off the gel plate as ones that are not final pictures are good starting points apple.

Hello my dear Kirsten 🥰 You know, this is the time my brain suffers a loss of words. I simply love 🥰 nearly each piece of art you showed in this video and like 🤩 the rest of them. The colors, the shapes, the perfect "grunginess" of some. I really wonder, why you don´t teach at a famous art academy. What I´m trying to say is: All of us here on youtube really are the lucky ones so far, because you don´t 😂 But my wish for your success would be, that someone would discover your wonderful qualities. Britta and Judith!!!!! My 2 favourite people in the same comment !!!!!!!!!!!! Austria and Germany. You always say the kindest confidence boosting things, especially on videos that are less popular so it means a lot. You always say the right thing when you’re lost for words Britta 😂🤣 If I ever come to Austria I’m coming to your hotel Judith, with Britta. The 3 of us can gel plate all day, look at the view, drink tea, eat cake and chat. Sounds blissful ❤️❤️

Thanks Yolande. I’m so sorry, I’m so behind with everything. I’ve bought water muxable oil paints and fell down another rabbit hole. It’s beyond ridiculous. I’m going with the flow and can’t even do a gel plate video at the moment due to just wanting to paint on gel prints.

@@quirkyqueens cool! I saw some oil water I’m able paints when I was at Homesense (a discount miscellaneous home goods store here in Canada) and was very close to buying them. I look forward to seeing your thoughts on them.💙

@@devonrex4 I also bought the water mixable linseed oil and some stiff brushes. Just basic ones. I like them a lot but I’ve only done 1 layer so far. Drying time 🫣😩😖😂

@@quirkyqueens I bought linseed oil once to use with oil pastels but I could not tolerate the smell. I was hoping water mixable oil paints could eliminate the use of toxic solvents. I have looked into non-toxic oil painting tips but given your comment about drying time I don’t think I would be patient enough for oils. I look forward to seeing what you create!

Hi kokos, you are so kind….thank you!!!! I’ve done some local exhibitions and sold a few bits. I’ve recently started using archival paper and applied to exhibit at royal Scottish academy (getting a bit above my station, but if you don’t try you’ll never know), I’ll find out in April. If they say yes, I’ll likely pay a framer to frame them properly. If they say no, it’ll be shop bought frames as the cost to frame properly will be more than I can sell for locally. Thank you for this, I was over the moon to read it yesterday ❤️
