Another interesting aspect of traversal: a pole vault feature. Apparently Basim can use poles/staffs to traverse wide gaps between buildings. He can also pull certain shops and scaffolding to block guards' path and escape (Like in the cinematic trailer). Looks like they are actively trying to make the chase and escape mechanic a part of the gameplay loop again. Let's hope that the AI is revamped to suit this better than the last three games.

I appreciate the comments, thank you. I did hear about that pole vaulting feature from JorRaptor, so it's clear there is a lot more to the world design than just what we see here. I hope we get gameplay soon!

That was an interesting analysis, thanks. Even though I have high hopes for the game itself (And what Ubi Bordeaux will do in the future if this game is a success), I'm already enamored by the vibe and atmosphere they are going for with this city. I suspect that it'll be really satisfying, progressing from one district to the other, and finally to the inner circle (in the dev breakdown vid, the art director confirmed that each district has a distinct purpose and style). Obviously, the parkour won't contain revolutionary upgrades, but it would probably be far more fun and smartly put together than the recent games, and that's a good start for me. I'm looking forward to seeing your coverage in the future, I hope you get way more views. You deserve it!

Looks like there’s a lot of flat walls and that worries me because using ejects onto beams to climb faster was fun in the og games and presented a skill ceiling. I hope we’re not just holding up or using lifts to ascend
@sosaysjay2 жыл бұрын
That is true, it is tough to tell as of yet. On the left you can see a wall with horizontal beams but it remains to be seen how well they will be integrated into the city layout

@So Says Jay I honestly don't have barely any hype for this game, even though I recently played the original AC for the first time and I think it's the one with the best concept and immersion. The problem is: Ubisoft. Don't trust 'em. This is probably going to be a Valhalla "back to basics" kinda marketing as you say in your last video, especially considering this was meant to be a DLC. And there's nothing that makes me want to trust this corporation, there haven't been any changes in the hire-ups and it's clear that they're going to double down on the "Live Service" money-milking. I hope you got something cooking 'cause I'm really hungry for more of your commentary

You also gotta remember that a lot of the models will be a lower LOD version at that distance, that's also why some models might look too simple. It is coming out on last and current gen, so it will be simple.
@sosaysjay Жыл бұрын
When I said simple I meant in terms of architecture, not graphical quality. The walls have clear paths the player can travel along with as opposed to dozens of different handholds per wall face like have gotten in some other games

Question which kind of fast travel do you prefer the brotherhood style or the black flag style.
@sosaysjay Жыл бұрын
Personally I prefer the black flag sync point method. It gives me more incentive to use the sync points and having to walk to a fast travel got a bit old for me
