thanks was trying to create foam, where lower level was of foam and upper was of bubble, thanks for this , it worked

For the insterescting parts you could use a aiMixshader with a curvature node connected to the mix, and set the curvature mode to concave. Haven't tried that myself but I believe it should work. Btw I learned about the mixshader from one of your videos, so many thanks for that=)

I followed your tutorial for the most part for a personal project. Now I'm trying to give it poolwater-like texture to give it some depth. But the effect doesn't work. I'm more concerned with the bump map than the diffuse texture. Do you know if it's possible with that set up?
@evilbeanz13475 жыл бұрын
for the outline what about using an ambient occlusion node? because that outline sorta like a soft shadow. thank you i've been struggling with force field
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
Hi Evil Beanz, someone mentioned that they could do it with Occlusion which I think that's a fascinating idea. I"ll hae to try it out! Thank you for the suggestion!

wouldnt the outline continue along the floor and other geometry if you removed the faces from the sphere if they intersect anything?
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
That's a good idea, Super. Another one was to use occlusion to drive the highlight... and it works! :)

i was creating lamp's cover with opacity and transmission but it looks like thin transparent plastic any idea????
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your question Hari. A lamp cover isn't really transparent, unless it's made of plastic. I would use SubSurface instead. The light should go through the material and scatter. I hope that helps!

Mam, I was able to create the intersection area light up simply by using aiambient occlusion node.

Really impressive stuff. I'm just wondering if you could think of any way of making the shield deform around certain geometry, like the cube? EDIT: Commented too early, my bad. I'm so intrigued that I'll look around to see if it's possible in Arnold

Nice tutorial Monica, well done! For the bit you cannot figure out the solution for (the intersecting geometries not showing the white outline), you could try with the toon shader or PFX. With PFX it generates lines at intersections if you tell it to do so. Can't remember precisely how did I do this (we're talking about almost 14 years ago... Damn I am old!!). Just play a bit with both PFX and the toon shader. Tweak the stroke of the PFX, activate the intersection lines of the toon and so forth. I am sure you'll find the way. ;-)
@AcademicPhoenixPlus5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mauro! I appreciate it. And I feel the 14 year thing too. lol! I'll have to check out the PFX with Toon. Sounds fun!

Did you find out how to outline objects intersecting the sphere? :D

Someone figured it out! They plugged occlusion into the the shader as well. :)
