0:34 Drinks you need to avoid while fasting: • Bone broth: because it has protein and protein stimulate insulin • Collagen powder: same issue as bone broth • Branch Chain Amino Acids: same issue as bone broth • Coconut water: because it has a good amount of sugar • Coffee: black coffee is totally fine. Whole cream you can do but there's going to be a slight decrease in some of the benefits of your fast • Bulletproof coffee: if you're trying to lose weight and have done fasting for a period of time maybe just have the black coffee, but if you're trying to maintain weight go for bulletproof coffee • Energy drinks/Gatorade: because they have sugar • Soda with artificial sweeteners: Even though they don't have sugar, they have artificial chemicals that interrupt the microbiome in your gut that can indirectly cause problems with your insulin levels • Alcohol • Soy drinks: avoid them • Almond milk: if it's just almond and water, maybe, but it still has calorie • Milk: avoid milk. Yogurt has more sugar than kefir, if you had a choice between yogurt and kefir, go for kefir • Beverages with bouillon cubes: if you can find ones without maltodextrin or monosodium glutamate then they're good 10:23 What you can drink while fasting: • Water • Electrolytes • Apple cider vinegar • Adding lemon/lime • Supplements (make sure they're not protein powder type) • Green tea • Black coffee (maybe with a little cream or half and half) • Don't forget sea salt Thank you Dr. Berg Sincerely, 11 : 11 Meditation Portal Channel

Since I’ve been fasting and intermittent fasting all the guys at work have developed an opinion about me. However one of them asked me the other day how much weight have you lost? Another one sad you look better like brighter. They can clearly tell that I have plenty of energy because I’m out working then. I’ve watched this channel for a couple of years now but never took anything serious because I was lazy and was just making excuses. A little bit of discipline and finally the desire to be a better version of myself has pushed me fully off the edge and I plan on doing this for the rest of my life. A couple weeks ago I was 265 pounds this morning I weighed in at 246.2. Thanks doctor for your free information that is changing my life.!!!

@@Gelo_6trey I do not understand why you prepared your fast to feel dizzy. The above video talks to this speciicly about electolights referring to one of the top electrolights referring to sea salt however I focus on himalayan, from Dr Eric berg. I've found in my very first two books that I read "life in the fasting lane" and "fast like a girl"focused on this too. Personally, preparing from intermittent to long term fasting and switching it I've focused on working on, I've mixed in 2 72 hour fasts, 2 48 hour fasts amongst the alternate day fasting since my first post. I've always preparedprior to each one fast I start; it is essential to me.

Sharing Dr Bergs notes: Drinks not to consume while fasting: • Bone broth • Collagen powder • BCAA • Coconut water • Coffee with sugar or flavors • Pre-workout drinks • Energy drinks • Sports drinks • Commercial electrolyte drinks (electrolyte powder sweetened with a natural sweetener like stevia is fine) • Soda with artificial sweeteners (sodas with stevia, xylitol, erythritol, or monk fruit are fine) • Beer and alcohol • Soy drinks • Milk • Drinks with bouillon cubes (if the bouillon doesn't have MSG and maltodextrin, then it's fine to have) Drinks that are acceptable but may set you back just slightly: • Bulletproof coffee • Coffee with a small amount of half-and-half or cream • Dry wine • Almond milk (check the ingredients) Drinks you can have while fasting: • Water (carbonated water, water with electrolytes, and water with apple cider vinegar, lemon, or lime are all fine) • Tea • Black coffee It's important to consume sea salt while fasting-you can add sea salt to your drinks throughout the day. You can also take supplements while fasting as long as they aren't protein powders. It can actually be beneficial to take supplements while fasting Thank you Dr Berg!! 🐱👍🏿

I so appreciate all the information you give to us to help us have success with fasting! I have been an OMAD for about a year and had lost about 35 pounds but unfortunately stopped losing weight. That’s when I started listening to your videos and learned I had to vary my fasts. I have been doing 36 & 48 hour fasts for several months and went down another 20 pounds. This past week I planned a 3-day fast but it went so well and I felt fine so I pushed on and did a 5-day fast. (I’m now down 65 pounds). I was continually testing my glucose. I was drinking water and sparkling mineral water as well as ACV & lemon. I thought I had all my bases covered but then something strange happened. I began getting severe pain in my muscles and joints when previously I hardly had any pain. I could hardly go from sitting to standing. I am over 70. I’m hoping this will rectify itself. Is this common?…and what can I do next time to prevent this from happening? In this video, you mentioned consuming a teaspoon of sea salt daily. Will this prevent this from happening? Anything else I should be doing?

Have you checked out Dr Pradip Jamnadas? He's a Cardiac Surgeon, Indian, living in the US. He's got a channel here. He's got some great videos on fasting. I had knee troubles, stress fracture from an injury, and D3 and K2 helped me so much. They were so sore, and now I can walk the dogs again. Maybe add those to your fast?

Dr. Berg, plain water becomes difficult for me past the first 24 - 36 hours. So I'm adding infused water to my regimen. I'm drinking my multivitamin, cod liver oil and B-complex. I'm using apple cider vinegar. I'm adding salt. I'm drinking black tea and/or black coffee. And as far as the infused water, I'm doing pineapple, mango, and lime. I infuse the water with one of these for an hour or two before I strain and drink it. I'm now 40 hours into my prolonged fast.

I personally love drinking organic miso soup. I buy a tab of miso paste and use 1 tsp in a cup of water I microwave for 1 minute. It’s only 10 calories per cup, which never breaks my fast. 2 cups max per day. I typically lose 1 lb of fat per ADF fast day. I also like to add 1 tbsp of glycine into my water before sleep, there are studies that show glycine helps burn fat, it is also great for sleep and liver health.

I personally can't fast a long time. I tried in the past but I start starving and feel uncomfortable in my stomach. Then I started fasting with a grapefruit-ginger-smoothie, to skip the dinner. I don't add any sugar or honey to it. It works perfectly and I believe that's a good alternative for those just like me who can't stand hunger, right Dr. Berg?

I wonder if the amount of black coffee can affect fasting negatively (or positively)?
@MrTeko752 жыл бұрын
Berg mentioned coffee does induce a slight insulin response. So if you are trying to drop some lbs, best to not drink a lot of coffee or the bullet proof coffee.
@experimenthealthyketo832 жыл бұрын

Try salt in your coffee. Salt turns bitter to sweet -- indigenous people in northern Scandinavia, who rely on melting snow for their coffee, taught me that. Solves the sodium and chloride problem with fasting too.

Dr. Berg, would miso broth be acceptable during fasting? I enjoy a cup of miso broth in the evenings a lot. I started it because I get hungry in the evening and I don't want to break my intermittent fasting hours. It works well, but I want to start doing water fasts for a couple days at a time and I'm not sure if the miso would mess with it. Thank you.
