Accepting one of the hardest fear of fear angles: that you might not recover from OCD - and why it's beneficial to lift that pressure off yourself.

Thank you for sharing this. Total acceptance, I am working on it. surrender everyday. I never thought to add the OCD into that. I have been recovering for 5 years. the past year has been a big change in my mind and attitude towards it. When you said accept that I might never recover, it it just felt right to do. Thanks again :)

It's such an important topic to highlight because it's what people struggle with the most and it's quite nuanced!

This is very helpful. 🙏 I am closer to acceptance working through the program. However, I put pressure on myself. I’d like to encourage myself to take the pressure off and to be gentler on myself. Can you share more about how you took the pressure off when you accepted? Concrete examples of this from your own experience? ❤

No it doesn’t, acceptance isn’t agreement.

The example you gave for being skinny makes no logical sense. Increase your calorie count and will definitely gain weight. Accepting a relapse may occur is one thing, but accepting no recovery at all kind of takes the whole point away of even trying to recover. Once u accept it, then just live in fear and anxiety. Why even try? I honestly don't get what you mean by agreement. Doesn't mean accepting? What if someone is suicidal? Some of the beginning of the video made sense, but in the end, I can't really get. Idk.

So how would I live with this shit of HOCD for evermore?? I'm sorry to say this but I rather die than to keep on living with this shit. Im not happy with the fact of dealing with the HOCD. It consume a lot of my energy and i can't even work in a mindset fine... And my depression back occurred to the HOCD is so hard to digest now Im still working on recovery, but if i never recover or find strength and happiness again, i may pray for a death fast in me😢

Same but with metaphysical contamination OCD. I'd rather fucking hang myself than deal with this shit forever. FUCK THAT. THAT IS NOT LIVING BUT MERELY EXISTING!!!!

No one is happy with dealing with OCD or any other difficulty in life for that matter - the only thing in our control is how we choose to SEE a situation rather than the situation itself. If you're going to make uncertainty over your sexuality the absolute "worst thing that could ever happen" then that's how it will feel - whereas we can see that we can accept the uncertainty + our feared scenario is never as scary as we think it is.

Why are you rehashing the same thing over and over again. With Ocd your trying to find a answer

Hey Tim - We are highlighting the realities of having this disorder. Most pages miss this so it's important to cover. OCD isn't as simple as 'you're just trying to find an answer'.
