I really appreciate the emphasis on not buying over buying, honestly. I've been happier since reading about a designer's ethos and history before I buy something expensive, sitting on things a week or two to see what else turns up, etc.

I know people who make over 200k a year but they only buy *hotdups* . No one would question their bags because of their profession so why spend thousands of dollars on the same bag? It's refreshing to see people spend their money wisely
@JustozaurPrzystalski2 ай бұрын
I have never been concerned about if others have fakes and replicas, unless they are trying to pass them off as real to sell them. I also don’t think replicas and dupes are that horrible as they push brands to be innovative (the classic monogram print was created in part to fight off counterfeiting) which benefits us as design lovers.I guess I can understand folks not wanting the same bag as others, but if it’s a good *jklux* it would make sense that more people would want it, authentic or not

Thanks for the video. I will say that fakes have been around for yeaaarrrrssss. I think it’s just brought to light now because of social media. I’ve seen LV and Chanel fakes and know how to get them if I wanted (Asian community) since like the 1990s. So it’s nothing new at all. If it seems a lot maybe people are just more aware with educational videos on authentic vs fake versus before. I wouldn’t let fakes and replicas change my mind on purchasing a bag or not. If I like it, I will buy it. And the fakes are never the same as the real ones. If people can’t afford it and are happy with *jklux* to each their own. My favorite bag is the classic flap. Next is the Kelly, then birkin. I know many Filipino aunties that have replicas to all. And it doesn’t change my mind on them. If you look at the Asian community NEARLY EVERY LUXURY BRAND bag has fakes, including business affinity and trendy

Thank you for mentioning that about genuine leather! So many people don't know, and it can deteriorate very quickly. I'm the same with going for small structured bags. When I first started buying nicer bags, I bought large structured bags. Now I know they aren't very comfortable to use. It can feel like lugging around a brick! 😄

Fake and inferior products refer to those who sell inferior products as good ones. High-quality imitation products will never intersect with them. *hotdups* As imitation products, they also have their own high-quality and multi-category requirements. If a woman likes to buy bags, then it is the first choice to be considered.

All good tips!! Another way that I curb impulsive spending on trendy items is to first thrift a similar item or find it at a clothing swap. It lets me try the trend in a cheaper and more sustainable way. As a fellow petite, I also care a lot about adjustable straps on handbags. I absolutely love my mini APC Grace bag for that reason. The strap is adjustable and it has a clever design so you don't see excess strap hanging off the sides

As someone who also has a very small nose bridge: you can add silicon nose pads to most sunnie frames. They don’t really show up and they’re very easy to add. So if you have a pair that’s just slightly too big that you like too much to want to declutter, super easy fix. Hope somebody finds that helpful!

I don’t want to carry two bags - that’s the point. I only use a tote bag for work and have a smaller handbag inside, along with my laptop and other necessities for my work day. I can then leave the office during the day with just my handbag. My tote is structured and beautiful so I love carrying it. I would not love carrying a nylon bag.
@marianapereirae2 ай бұрын
I second this. Also, those simple cotton tote bags are extremely uncomfortable on the shoulders, especially if you carry a laptop/camera, aside from being completely open.
@SL-lz9jr2 ай бұрын
Well... Technically you just stated that you're carrying two bags but okay. I think there's a lot of nuance to handbags that she missed but I understand what she is suggesting works for her lifestyle and what you're suggesting works for your lifestyle. No wrong or right way. She's not wrong that an oversized structured handbag like the ones she presented on screen will indeed be bulky and heavy. As a driver, that won't be an issue because that purse won't sit on your shoulders or carried by hand much. I used to live in a city where people drove a lot and I was always given a ride somewhere so I could get away with heavy structured bags. Now I live in a city where nobody drives and we all walk or take public transit. That same style of bag would absolutely kill my weak arms or dig into my shoulders until it's sore. For work, I now carry a leather tote bag or a coated canvas tote bag. I don't like floppy tote bags that can't stand on its own. Even though it's a more structured bag it's still loads lighter than a super structured bag. On weekends out with friends, I just carry a cloth tote bag. I have a cute one I received in Paris and it's tiny. Fits just enough for a water bottle, an umbrella and a thin sweater. All my smaller handbags are structured to some degree. I wish I could get away with just carrying one bag but it doesn't work for me so I make do. Or I wear jackets with big pockets that fit a small water bottle or small umbrella. Hahaha. Gotta do what we gotta do to live the way that we want to live. With hybrid work these days, I'm not always working for an employer that provides me an assigned desk. At some places I do have an assigned desk, at others we all share the desk space. And because of the hybrid work schedule, I can't always leave my laptop at work unless I will be back in the office the following day. I miss not having to carry a laptop to work! Too bad employers can't provide two computers.... Lol.
@RosiG732 ай бұрын
@@SL-lz9jr Wrong. I am carrying a bag inside a bag and you knew my point. By your logic, I am carrying 30+ things because that’s the number of things inside my tote. 🙄. Since you like to be exhausting, let me explain in small words: I prefer to carry one thing that holds all my smaller things that need to go to work with me.

Okay but you’re being really aggressive about her opinion on things that make her uncomfortable. And you’re also being aggressive toward someone else making their own opinion. I came to the same realization about sunglasses last year! I’ve resolved to only buy them in Asia from now on so that every pair of sunglasses I try on in a store already fits my nose bridge - I feel like there’s an upcharge from western brands when you buy in the west for low nose bridge styles, and they still don’t really fit as well (looking at you, Warby Parker low nose bridge fit). I have a great pair from a Hong Kong brand called Mujoshi now, and an Asian fit pair of Oakleys I got in Singapore. Bonus is there’s sometimes fun Asia exclusive items, or Asian stores will throw in bonus things with purchase!

"If I could only have one, would it be THIS one?" Such a great question. I think I've been subconsciously asking myself something similar lately. I wanted a pair of dressier summer sandals, but I don't want to buy more than one. So I've been holding out until I find that one pair that makes me say "Yes, this is the pair that I would wear with multiple outfits, in multiple settings." It seems like it would be a constricting question, but it actually feels liberating to know that once I FIND that pair of sandals I'll be done. I won't need to shop for another pair because I'll have the pair that makes me happy.
