I don’t like how the media only called her Micheals Jackson’s sister-in-law or Tito’s ex, she was a loveable person and her death should have been taken seriously even without the connection to the Jackson’s.

I was thinking about that too when the woman said it I was like “why did she feel the need to say “Micheal Jackson’s sister in law” the case was about Dee Dee not Micheal. It really shows how obsessed the media was of Micheal.

I think it just says a lot about how they know the people will care more if they feel like it’s more relevant to them personally and everyone knows who Michael is. The media outlets are simply trying to get views and sell papers and now-a-days, get likes & shares.

but that's literally a rule in journalism. when they're reporting a story, they can't use the proper names in the headline, unless the name is well-known enough to be immediately recognizable. "Local Woman Found Dead", "Florida Man Accused Of Attacking Child Over Playground Noise", it's nothing to do with the value of person theirself, it's just how headlines work. and, how people work in general. you see a headline, "Dee Dee Jackson Drowned", your eyes glance over it bc you've already collected all the information. there was a woman named Dee Dee Jackson, and she drowned. you don't know anyone called Dee Dee Jackson, but you feel sorry for her family. end of interest. "Michael Jackson's Sister-In-Law Drowned" tho, that's you recognize Michael Jackson's name, you learn he had a sister-in-law, you learn she drowned, but you don't immediately have all the information. who was his sister-in-law? would you recognize her? why did she drown? the headline has to inspire curiosity in order to draw attention. it's not personal, or obsessive, or malicious, it's just good writing.

Totally random, but the fact that Michael Jackson decided not to come to the funeral as to not draw more media attention was such a nice thing for him to do. They also stated that MJ swept them away afterwards to get them out of the media and out of a slump.

I think that they had a pretty good amount of things to convict him off of her body told a story, his multiple changing of stories told a story, even the defensive ones which I see was not mentioned it was found on his body tell the story. The jury said he was convicted because of the lack of wanting to tell the truth and even the judge said that he was not very good with the truth.

Same, because despite her not being able to swim, i can see her expecting to only be in the jacuzzi but then she got super drunk and thought she was invincible and Don thought she was swimming but she was drowning the whole time. But at the same time, her family saying why was DeeDee in water to me is very compelling because my grandma cannot swim and HATES water. So if someone tried to say my grandma was swimming or that she got in a pool i would know 100% that did not happen. But i agree it’s not beyond a reasonable doubt that he did it. I feel bad for him

People fighting off someone trying to save them in the water is nothing unusual. When you take life saving you are taught this.
@Solonneysa
@Solonneysa 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with Deb Turcott - Life saving courses teach that a person who is panicking, confused, and drowning, will fight unintentionally. Add that someone is drunk, and it's entirely possible a drowning person would fight. I also don't think her not telling them is that weird. Sometimes people don't tell friends/family everything, and people find the smallest things "exciting" or "private." For example, she could have kept it quiet as a fun thing to reveal later, but we can't know. The "Olympic flips" description is definitely weird, but he was also drunk af so who knows what happened there. He may have misinterpreted things. It's possible he accidentally killed her, but I also don't see motivation for him to have murdered her. It could have been accidental. Someone else mentioned their terror around pools and drunks - they mentioned that party people will try to throw each other in, and I have also experienced this. It's possible he was messing with her, and she ended up in the pool, and he didn't intend for her to die. He did pull her out of the water. He could have left her there. He could have neglected to call 911. He also didn't have injuries, though, so if he did "beat her for hours" as was suggested during the video, it's weird that he doesn't have injuries from that. Honestly, I don't think we'll ever know, for sure.

I used to work as Lifeguard and you would be shocked to see what kind of damage CPR on a pool deck can do. I mean you literally have to push down several inches breaking the ribs and that tends to leave abrasions on the backside of the person. Even pulling someone out of the pool without a backboard can scrape someone up pretty good.

I believe he probably did try to save her eventually but it was too late and he was too drunk to affectively do so. The bruises, the ''someone is drowning'', the fact everyone who knew her said she was afraid of water, the ''olimpic turns''...I think she might've taken 1 or 2 swimming lessons (still find it weird she did not tell her sons about it) and he might've killed her by accident, but he was def involved. My wild guess is they got into a drunken fight and became agressive, he pushed her into the water and left, once he came back he saw she was not breathing and remebered she was not a swimmer. Alcohol makes you more violent and there is a huge possibility he genuinely thought she could swim at the time...I do not think he meant to kill her but he was def involved in her death.

I know, right?! After the butterfly stroke, Olympic flips were my weakest spot in competitions, it’s difficult to calculate when to start turning so your feet hit the wall correctly to give you impulse and so you don’t hurt yourself, and I don’t know where you live but flips and the “stool jump” to start the competitions were things they only taught us when we had the technique and times to start competing. Why wouldn't she share that with them? 3. Why allow someone you know to have been drinking THAT much to swim in your pool especially when they were just learning to swim? 4. Donna's wedding so close to DeeDee's death and on the day of her funeral. I'm not saying that it proves he did it, but it definitely doesn't make him look good either. I wouldn’t be surprised if she had something to do with it tbh. And I get that they were both drunk drunk but that does not explain all of what came out of that autopsy. I find it odd that Dee Dee was so terrified of water, yet Don claims to have 'taught' her how to swim (which, fair enough, swimming is a good skill to have and he did have a pool)... yet there's NO EVIDENCE. Seriously, this was 1994- why wouldn't Dee Dee have at least had someone take some photos of her in the pool, or even a video??? Don helping her overcome one of her greatest fears to the extent that she was able to do 'Olympic turnarounds' (very disorienting if you're not entirely comfortable in the water, so weird) sounds like a dang miracle... yet Dee Dee never bragged to a friend, or showed evidence to a relative by swimming in front of them-??? I dunno, that fact just sounds really weird to me; and judging by her sons and ex's reactions... she was REALLY averse to water!

So if she just stopped swimming in the water and was floating face down that means she’s more than likely unconscious ( I’m a certified Red Cross lifeguard) how did she all of a sudden start kicking around again? Doesn’t add up.
@Gordyeko
@Gordyeko 3 жыл бұрын
I am a RC lifeguard too, and I dont understand how if she was floating face down, which indicates unconsciousness, did she start fighting him while he was trying to haul her out? Also, if he was hauling her out by himself, you would think that her body would show scrapes & scratches from the edge of the pool (so either on her butt/back or her hips/tummy depending on which way she was facing) so how did she get so many unexplained injuries like her ears? I have done a few single-person rescues and I have even dropped a man once (he was soooo much bigger than me!!) and I just can't see how anyone could make her injuries line up with a drowning. I'm with you, something just doesn't add up.

Whether it was an accident or not, it’s weird how he was lying and some of his statements to the police had inconsistencies between what happened on the phone call and what her family said. Also, it was weird that Donna and Deedee grew so close then after Deedee’s sudden death, Donna had the wedding on the same day as planned very shortly after on the day Deedee’s funeral then never made an appearance. Don didn’t even show up and he was also on the phone calling her “someone” and not giving them at least her first name when asked. Neither Donna or Don seem to have much emotion about the situation and mainly seem to care about clearing his name instead. I don’t think it was premeditated but I don’t think it was some complete accident either or she wouldn’t have so many injuries, Don wouldn’t be lying, and they would have a little more emotion and respect regarding the situation and her death.

The very first day he showed me skills, I sent my close family video and pictures of my excitement. It was a huge milestone for me because they all know I haven’t been comfortable in the water. It’s odd that she was afraid of the water, but she didn’t tell anyone she was learning to swim? Yeah, something doesn’t add up.

SMH.. the fact that he says SOMEONE is drowning,is suspect.

Unpopular opinion, but given that he was drunk I dont think its weird. They werent in a relationship, so I think suddenly he just didnt how to refer to her. You dont normally say the name of a person in a 911 call either.

@@Anna-dv5jy even if they weren’t in a relationship I’m sure they were at least FRIENDS. Why didn’t he say my friend is drowning? Somebody makes it seem like a random person went into his backyard and fell in his pool. They were both found unclothed, she deserved more than “someone.”

@@Pthelibra3 You're right it definitely sounds odd and the whole case is suspicious. But regardless of the rest of the information in the case, calling her "someone" can also mean that he didn't consider her a friend either. She simply just wasn't important enough to him to name in the urge of the moment.

I think there is more reasonable doubt here than in the Peterson case.
