@@nina.robbs565 that was my first thought too. Being in a crash like that (and surviving) is enough trauma to send anyone into shock, and witnessing her sister's violent death must have been traumatic as well, even if the crash was intentional. I have to wonder if there was an additional element of surreality and trauma due to the nature of their relationship - because they were identical twins, inseparable to a fault, the surviving twin may have felt as if she witnessed her OWN death ... I can't imagine what it would feel like to see someone who looks exactly like you die in such a brutal way. Dissociation seems like a pretty normal response to any one of those traumatic events.

In my high school our grades were always split into halves (so blue half and red half), if we ever had any sort of twins they were specifically told one of them would be in red half, and the other in blue half to help them develop friendships and identities independently, I’m almost certain we had 5 sets of twins one year.

I'm an identical twin, I think being raised to be a full person is one of the most beneficial things a parent can do for multiples, especially identical ones. Like my twin and I were almost always together, but my parents made sure we were in separate classes, so we learned how to be socially independent. My mom would listen to every story twice, even when they were exactly the same, she wanted both of us to feel like we mattered and were individuals. Obviously you can't escape everything, my twin always had a massive issue with us looking the same, we looked increasingly different over the years, but I think childhood is where the meat of the issues begin. Pretty much everyone called us "the twins" or "the girls" but my parents never did. That kind of stuff matters. People say they're freaked out by twins because of infamous twins like these two, and I totally agree, I just know it doesn't apply to all twins. I have some experience. But the twins like that, who still look identical as adults, yeah.. It freaks you out because it oozes dysfunction and hints at some really weird shit. It's abnormal. This reminds me of those silent twins, and the Swedish ones too, like one needed to die so the other could live. You can't treat two virtually identical people with two distinct and competing minds as one entity and expect anything good to come of it. Instant recipe for self destruction.

Since the day my sister-in-law found out she was pregnant with twin girls she did not allow anyone to call them "the twins". We actually refer to them as "the girls" or by their names. This case reminds me of the Silent Twins. They refused to speak to anyone but each other, and did literally everything the same and together. But they also fought like dogs. One twin strangled the other with a radio cord during one of their brawls. In the end one twin died while napping on her sister’s shoulder, and it was written in her journal one of us must die, so the other can live. The similarities are so eerie. It’s something about identical twins.

I think its because the prosecutor was trying to get her charged with intentional murder, which was their first mistake. If they cannot prove that she was guilty of intentional homicide beyond a reasonable doubt, then she would not be charged with that, and let go. You cannot change the charges (from intentional to manslaughter) during a trial unless a deal is made with the defense team. If they tried charging her with manslaughter initially, I believe she would be in jail now. Basically, the prosecutor risked it all to get her charged with murder, and it backfired. There's literally no way she tried to solely kill her sister- there was absolutely no guarantee of her surviving that crash and only killing her twin... Plus I don't find it strange at all that she had no emotion, didn't ask about the sister, and started wearing her clothes. With the mental connection they had, she probably knew immediately that the twin was gone and she was numb to it, like being in shock. How does she cope with the guilt of knowing she killed her other half whom she had a rocky relationship with? She tries to fill the void by trying to feel the sister nearby, by wearing her clothes. Idk it all adds up as either A. an accident or B. she wanted to take both their lives and didn't plan to live

And with good behavior, and work detail, the back #s (the 15 or the 10) are nearly cut in half. . . And DUI inmates are considered minimum security inmates and go to the work camps. So 3-15, turns into 3 yrs in minimum security, then parole for 4 years. Of course that's for a first offense and obv on certain circumstances. That's in Nevada, at least

The idea of twins harming each other always seems weird to me. I am a twin I have a sister. We never truly thought of being a twin as special other than some people would tell us we were closer than most siblings. We tend to think similar and often have the same ideas. I have anxiety and depression while my sister is rather self confident and doesn't have problems with her mental health. In some ways I truly do think she is my other half because she has traits that I truly wished I had. We moved into an apartment together and just adopted a dog together. I really enjoy my life with her right now. She is my best friend.

That can sometimes be a trauma response. I've had no reaction in severely traumatizing situations because I didn't have the capacity to process what happened. Here's the thing: I think she was probably responsible. The way she was acting afterwards definitely makes that the most likely scenario, at least in my mind. But I think there's enough reasonable doubt that it would have been unfair to convict her in a court of law. This is why it worked in her favor to select a bench trial, rather than a jury trial. I also think this is especially true considering almost all of the evidence was circumstantial. If anything hopefully she was convicted for some of her drunk driving, DWIs and DUIs are no joke and multiple offenses carry really strict sentences. I find it really strange how their father brought up that he wished Anastasia had lived rather than Alexandria - wish he had given more clarification on that!!!

I imagine that was pretty traumatic and I'm not surprised that she was blank in the hospital. Sounds like shock to me. Wearing her clothes, I think that's pretty common when you lose someone. so she told the boyfriend she wanted to kill her sister, her dad said "the wrong one died" and they had been fighting for years. And she had been charged with multiple DUI's?? Whether or not she drove off the cliff on purpose or not, she should still be in prison for her multiple DUI's, especially considering she essentially commited manslaughter in that crash by driving drunk.
@8trinababi3 жыл бұрын
I think they were just toxic. I had a friend that died and her mom wore her clothes after she died just to feel closer to her. People deal with death in many different ways ...and the trauma that comes with it.

It doesn’t make sense that she would drive off to kill the other sister. They’re BOTH in the car lol. So that theory makes no sense and I find that line of thinking really illogical. Why would someone have a motive to kill the other and plan to do it in a car crash where both are in the car? If you’re gonna murder someone intentionally you’re not gonna risk your own life. So it was either an accident (unlikely) or she intended to kill both of them.
@morgancunningham92304 жыл бұрын
Stephen Bailey exactly. I think she was trying to kill both of them.
@DrAnderson14 жыл бұрын
Morgan Cunningham - agreed! If the car “accident” was actually a car “on purpose,” then the plan was to kill them both, together. Based on the way she was reportedly acting & responding to everything, she didn’t seem overtly happy to have survived.
@foreveranna114 жыл бұрын
I think it was supposed to kill them both, it’d explain her reaction and her going to new york and drunk driving again like it was a second attempt and just a clear disregard for her own safety

I read about this case. I can relate. I’m an identical twin with a VERY love hate relationship with my sister. I think it’s quite common for identical twins. Regarding the charge...I think she should have been charged with DUI manslaughter.

there has to be some level of culpability. her reckless behaviour in assaulting her sister under such severe and dangerous conditions (heavy intoxication, a treacherous road, with a spare tire no less) is at the very least reckless endangerment. then coming back to New York and driving drunk and recklessly AGAIN? this woman is a danger to society.
