Hi James, sorry to hear that. Yeh I concluded that it was a design flaw. In my opinion of course. I’m making another video showing how Accurascale delt with the fault. I think you will be surprised. Also plan to separate make a video comparing various manufacturers customer service levels. I certainly had my eyes opened.

Seems to be a common issue. I bought 2 and one of them had the motor not engaging, was swimming in oil and broke the pipes following the accurascale instructions. So sent the one back and put the working one back in the box to the back of the storage shelf

Am glad i didn't attempt to fix mine now ive seen your 2nd video, it would be interesting to open up an original hattons barclay and compare them to see if it has changed because all 4 of mine were faultless and i haven't seen any other negative reviews on the original batch

@@northwesttrainsmodels Thanks for your comments Northwest, I was thinking along the lines of checking the original Hattons model motor mount. Anyone got one and willing to share pictures??

I have 25 Accurascale locos and the last 2 have had problems, this loco and a class 31 that arrived with no coupler and was missing the whole coupler mount assembly that clips in under the cab, it wasn't even loose in the box, just missing. The Barclay is going back and I am awaiting parts for the 31.

@@carlbentley80 Thanks for sharing Carbentley. Sorry you’re part of the many disappointed customers with the Andrew. Barclay. You wouldn’t have a Hattons version at all? I want to compare the motor mountings .

@@MODELTRAINZZ This is the only version I had, I would be interested to see the Hattons one too. When I contacted Accurascale about the issue they blamed the Hattons design.....

These quality issues seem the be across all manufacturers. I wonder is it that they all made in china.your giving production and quality to another country and when stuff is finished snd arrived the problems appear

I think what is telling is DAPOL pulled a lot of the manufacturing back to U.K. (Wales) due to costs increasing and to gain more control. Watch this space on an upcoming episode.

I've personally not had any problems with bachmann or hornby models quality or running issues and the original hattons batch of barclays i never herd of this problem on those so i presume it must have been a different factory this time as every barclay loco seems to be affected, ive not seen anyone yet thats said its worked out of the box, its hard to say whether hattons already had there own factory put these into production or whether they were always going to be made by accurascale for hattons

@@presidentxd Proper checks have been waived in my opinion. It takes years to build a reputation. And… you can lose it in a heart beat.

Thanks for showing this video, I tried to fix mine but couldn't get the body away from the chassis, looks like its a waste of time trying to fix it anyway and like you said, its a brand new loco why should I fix it, so I will be sending mine back too for a refund. Mine also had the rear of the cab bent in.

@@MODELTRAINZZ The ball has really been dropped on this release I feel. Its a shame because its a nice loco but I won't be getting a replacement, I have to send it back from Australia and don't want to risk getting another one thats a dud.
