Does anyone actually prefer today's magic rack soft break runout to this type of power game? I mean the big break is EVERYTHING good about 9 ball. If you want to watch finesse, go watch straight pool.

Nice to hear Grady's voice on there, pretty decent match. Yours is a good question, and in my oppinion, some things evolve fairly predictably. What I mean is, the break historically was w/ heavy, dense and none reactive balls, and cloth was worsted material. So an aggressive break made sense, now w/ a 14.1 cloth or 30/30 it makes you want to tap your breaks; mixed w/ phenolic resin balls: Deuel was ostrasized, but he simply found something that worked. The magic rack was just another attempt to mitigate the head 'Bob-and-weave' proctological examination that seems to ensue every match. In conclusion, anyone playing for Wampam is abjectly insane not to legislate 'rack your own'!
