I love this laptop. I just picked it up at best buy for $999 with the i7 11800 rtx 3060 16gb RAM! they had a Black Friday in July. Im still trying to get used to the keyboard. I like the button feel, it is just a little more spaced out that my old 13" laptop with a scrunched keyboard.

@@drummer7557 You can get it to run hot. Like if you leave it on quiet profile and then try to game. BUT if you leave it on auto it will take care of it for you. In halo infinite it stays around 75-77c . If you use the turbo button then yes it is very loud. I never use that feature/

Probably few of the best 16:10 laptops in the market. Of course there only exist 4 major laptops with 16:10, namely the Legion 5 Pro and 7, Asus Zephyrus M16 and the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE. I'd say they're on a league of it's own.

The problem is that it has Intel CPUs, which while having Thunderbolt 4 and good single core CPU performance, cannot match AMD in terms of multi-core or battery life. Imagine of there was an Acer Predator with AMD...

@@cameronbosch1213 Acer Nitro 5 is there tho. I don't mind. Intel isn't known for too much efficiency. But they are known to better push frames if gaming is your concern. But the laptop space actually puts the Intel quite as capable as AMD. You won't actually see a major difference. It all depends on whether you'd need a fast multicore machine or a fast gaming machine.

@@joelconolly5574 The problem is that the Nitro series, especially the Nitro 5, is a budget laptop, with no DisplayPort or USB-C passthrough DisplayPort, small battery, and overall not worth it at the higher configurations. They need at least one AMD Predator model; they did it with a special AMD Ryzen Predator Helios 500 back in 2018.

I have the Acer Predator Helios 300. It's not the top of the line like the one you reviewed BUT it has a good selection of features. I got a similar screen @ 165 HTZ QHD. It only has two fans. (But they work well!) And I can mod and upgrade without complicated (or paid) assistance. (RAM, M2 Drives, SATA Drive too.) It does have too many names for only one laptop. 😂 Nicely done! Cheers!

To be honest the Acer nitro 5 is more than enough for me. A RTX 3060 and a ryzen 5000 series CPU for $1099 is very reasonable and plenty powerful.

I have the Father of this Laptop style. "The Acer conceptd 7". 4k display. 100% pantone & Rgb, 1Tb 32gb ram. RTX 2080 maxQ. The laptop is all white stain resistant and from scratches. Don't ask me the price lol. It's way to expensive 😫. But other then ram and the SSD. They listened to all the customers who had my laptop. And upgraded the product to our liking.

6:44 i would prefer Acer using 150mm fan , low speed high pressure rather make the laptop thin , small , and make gaming so suffer , very loud fan noise , hot keyboard . i think Acer RGB 3 zone are bad idea , unless it's auto fade at edge , if not .. no matter what color we mix , it's will make us feel ugly .

Enjoyed the review as usual. This seems to fit my desire for an occasional travel content creator, business use, light gaming laptop with Thunderbolt 4 but not available to date (July 25/21) at Best Buy in Canada (typical). A concern is that with my previous ACER Travelmate P645 replacing the battery was futile - after 4 years could not find a true OEM unit (at a fair price) and the clone batteries caused issues as if ACER had some kind of circuitry in their OEM batteries.

Depends on the amount of threads the processor has if it's 16 in an 8 core ship it's good enough for light 3d animation.

I mostly use it for school but when gaming it runs amazing only thing is if you're into vr it doesn't run the greatest for the games I play but still playable. what do you mean by programs? also you're going to need to upgrade to storage its base model storage comes with half a terabyte it's not enough you can get it upgraded at BestBuy etc.

i was complaining alot about my predator triton 500 2080 i7-10750 with getting alot of hot temp, i could get very good temps with liquid metal, but i repasted it becouse i was scared of a spill. but after some time i start to realice that it is a thin gaming laptop that is light and fits everywhere, theese laptop are small and thin and not heavy :) if you want good temps choose a bigger beefyer laptop, but if you want a thin gaming laptop the predator triton line is not that bad. i have the 2080 predator for sometime, thin laptop that i can easly bring with me everywhere.

I think the real issue with this laptop is the battery charger with a straight connected adapter wire instead perpendicular. Without USB Type-C charger, people will carry with a big thicc one. If you travel everyday (about 4-5 years), the protected wire cover will be affected in your backpack, and it will be torn apart.

Battery life problem might due to New intel display driver . i had the same issue after upgrade to Intel Display driver to 30.xx version , it's make my 92wh battery finished in 3 hours . and i try set in Bios iGPU only , it's get back to 12 hours battery life , so i decide using DDU , and install back Intel Display driver 27.xx , it's give back me 12 hours battery life . but i have to disable window update , it's keep wanna automatically update that Intel Display Driver for me. Hope Intel will fix it soon.

For Ideapad gaming 3 I'd more concerned about the gpu (gtx1650ti). If you found any rtx3050 with the same price, I will not recommend gtx1650ti. But if you do find gtx1650ti is on big discount that will still rational.
