This was a popular song to dance to in the clubs and it was on the radio all the time for years. Definitely ahead of its time in ways. I think it's quite remarkable that you have made such progress in being able to sense where is something lies along the timeline. That would be so difficult to do for music decades before your time. But I love the fact that you said that it had an 80s vibe but you've kind of learned to go earlier and so you thought it was the late seventies and then were surprised to actually find out it's from the mid-70s. But that's really cool man. You have picked up on a lot since doing this channel.

Early 70s vibe! "Electric Light Orchestra" (ELO for short) is a full orchestra Band with a Brass and strings and woodwind sections. Jeff Lynn (singer and founder) was at one time a record producer, turned Pop/Rock star. He is a genius. Sold more albums in the 1970s than almost any Band in the world. Great music

Dusty, you've got your facts all wrong. 1) ELO is not a full orchestra, it is a light orchestra, hence the band name. Light orchestras were all over England when Jeff and Roy founded ELO and named the band, "Electric Light Orchestra", because they were combining *ELECTRIC* rock instruments with the classical instruments found in a *LIGHT ORCHESTRA,* 2 cellos and 1 violin. So that's who they had in the band of 7 members: 2 guitarists, 1 keyboardist, 1 drummer, 2 cellists, and 1 violinist. However, after the first few albums, Jeff hired out a full orchestra to create a larger sound, just for the studio recordings. Then in the early '80s Jeff abandoned classical strings, altogether. But then brought them back in the last decade, at least on stage for live shows. 2) It's Lynne, not Lynn 3) You've got the chronology wrong on Jeff's resume. He was a rock/pop star who later produced ELO, and then upon disbanding ELO in '86, he created a new career for himself by producing and co-writing for other artists, including huge names like, The Beatles, Tom Petty, even establishing a new band with George Harrison called The Traveling Wilburys, inviting Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Petty to join their supergroup band. 4) ELO didn't sell anywhere close to the most albums in the '70s. However, ELO did have more Top 40 Hits combined between the US and UK between '72 - '86 than any other band in the world during that same 15-year span. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You're right Ace. I love songs that making a serious statement, but you also need some that are encouraging, or just fun. But I draw the line with computer made music; unless, the computer is in a synthesizer/keyboard, which takes some skill to play.

Ace, add some funk to your music diet, and react to Parliament's "Give up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" or "The Big Bang Theory." You could sweeten the pot, by reacting to the Nick Straker Band's "Just a Little Bit of Jazz." Either song will put some 'spank' in your tank, glide in your stride, and hit you in the head all at the same time.....

You keep mentioning 70"s songs as 80"d. I am not being critical. I am just trying to say that a lot of late 60"s and early 70"s gets mistaken as 80"s
