It was nice seeing a young guy enjoy an old song so much.

Yet another great Aussie export, and yes Glen Shorrock has an amazing voice, add in a great songwriting duo and you have some amazing albeit underrated music.

No one seems to have mentioned my fave song by them, "Cool Change". Awesome video too! "Well I was born in the sign of water, and it's there that I feel my best. The albatross and the whale, they are my brothers. It's kind of a special feeling when you're out on the sea alone, staring at the full moon like a lover". Lyrics just don't get much better than that, plus you get a video filled with leaping dolphins and whales. 🐬🐳

It was from 1978. Great song one of my favorites from Little River Band. They have so many good songs and had a few hits in the late 70s and early 80s. Some other songs by them to check out are: Help is on it’s Way Lonesome Loser Lady Night Owls Cool Change Man on Your Mind Take it Easy on Me

Dude if I'm on KZbin and awake and engaged I will listen to your reactions anytime. And you can cuss all you want, I know I do, it feels like the most natural way to speak. Funny thing is I really hated the song in High School although many of certain of my friends really loved it. I was in a much harder stuff and seemingly more complex stuff, but I saw a reaction to this about 3 weeks ago and then another one about a week ago and now you just did this one, and I quickly realized after all these Decades of being a musician and just being around life, that I was an idiot about this in high school. It kind of reminds me of a mainstream version of Steely Dan, and there is that jazz influence and everything about it is just so well done, and yet it has a lot of soul and casual funk to it even in that smooth framework. I'm really loving it now. At least at the time back in the day, this was commonly categorized as Yacht Rock, which I somehow decided I hated because it just seemed so sell-out and vapid compared to everything else, but I'm telling you man, this is a fantastic song. Thank you for reacting to it.

"Glenn Miller's band was better than before..." Glenn Miller was one of the leaders of the Big Band/Swing era. Reference to "Porter's songs" is Cole Porter, one of the best song writers in early to mid 20th century with some terrific word play in the lyrics. By the way, 1978 was an amazing year for music.

A lot of this type of "soft rock" or "yacht rock" was popular as an adult alternative to the terrible disco craze of the time. The little river band, Doobie Bros, Hall and Oates, Joe Jackson, Marshall Tucker band.....many bands had this slow "FM" sound popularized by SOUND CITY studios in the mid 70s with bands like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Fleetwood Mac.

the core trio (lead singer and two guys harmonizing) who wrote all the songs eventually lost control of the band name. They still perform the songs, but cannot reference the LRB name. LRB also continues with 0 original members.

It's too bad that 3 of the original members who were the principal songwriters, including Glenn Shorrock, the singer, had lost the usage of LRB since they WERE the sound of the band. A bass player effectively stole the name after the other 3 left. Music business is dirty!

I grew up in the 80s. This was NOT my jam. I wanted Duran Duran, Howard Jones, etc. THEN, as a HS Senior something changed… 🤔 Maturity? Suddenly I was into Steely Dan, THIS, Boz Scaggs, Toto, etc. Still loved my 80s, but this stuff was moving my soul, man! Grunge be gone! 😈
