The way I rationalize consuming things like rail in science is that the rail in this case is destroyed in the scientific process. Think of Q in the Bond movies, he was sometimes blowing stuff up on rails. Things like that surely wears out rails quickly so they need to be replaced. Same with furnaces. You don't even need to watch movies to see people destroy for example microwave ovens in "scientific" experiments. Everything that is consumed in the different packs can be explained in a similar manner.

the kombat drones is a cheaper and faster alternative i feel. because they can be equipped with any small weapons, they deploy relatively fast and can be produced in a 3 tier sistem, light, medium and heavy so i tend to just deploy 4 heavies with rocket launchers 10 mediums with ap ammo rifles and 50 light with pistols or smgs wich makes for an absolute army
