I’m 65 and I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio and had to go buy the 45 single as soon as it arrived in the record store. This song and so many other is what made growing up in the 60s, 70s, and yes even the 80s, very special and all the wonderful music that was being played for the first time. Every song I listen to has a specific memory and time that was truly so special to me. If only we could go back and relive these special and wonderful memories of our lives and the ones we shared them with back then.

Jerry I can relate with what you say, I'm 62 and was a scout at the time, growing up in Chicago we had a friend two houses down from us whom was a Marine serving in Vietnam, he came home in 1969 and there was a great parade for him, that day I was allowed to carry the stars and stripes, I could not hold back the tears when he hugged me and shook my hand! This song always reminds me of that day... I would go on to serve our country 76-79.

This song means so much to me. I Remember when i was drive with my oldest brother in his Car. (An old Opel rekord) and this song hè played from a radio/cassette player and he look at me and smile. He was so so proud on his first Car, and i was so proud that i may drive with him in his car and listen to This beautiful song. Growing up in Germany I listened to this song over and over again along with many others of this era either on the radio tuned to AFN or from a cassette deck in old Opel Rekords, Ford 17ms and assorted other „junk“ in the early seventies. A number of guys we rode with back then are gone now, too. Missing them.

Meu prazo de validade está na metade (eu acho, pq nunca sabemos qdo vamos rs), mas graças ao meu pai que passou umas referências e o youtube ('agora' ) é bom ver quem sempre ouvimos e continuamos a resgatar grandes canções tb. A música ganhou muito em diversidade mas tb perdeu em qualidade, não sou progressista, mas acho que o progresso bem feito e consistente, traz o melhor do passado a ser aprimorado, por isso essas bandas nunca podem ser esquecidas se quisermos músicas de qualidade no futuro.
