Despite what Dr. Foreman said in this video, if you have symptoms of acid reflux for over a year, you should in fact, go to see your doctor. Chronic acid reflux can potentially be a sign of a more serious condition- there is a reason most over the counter acid reflux medications say that you shouldn't take it for more than a year without consulting a doctor. This is really only if you take acid reflux medication nearly daily though. If you only take it after a spicy meal or something like that, then you should be fine.

In the case of acid reflex, what are the contraindications?
@kaylabaker2099
@kaylabaker2099 Жыл бұрын
@@letyvasquez2025 Not so much contraindications, as things that you might want to get checked for that are closely related to acid reflux (stomach ulcers, GERD, etc). Usually they still want you to take heartburn meds with those (although if you're just taking antacids, they will probably ask you to switch to a PPI instead since they're better long term). Especially with things like stomach ulcers, you might require extra medical intervention beyond the meds.

Theres a reason why older people dont get considered. Its for the same reason why drug addicts and people with eating disorders are off the list too. People that stand to get the most out of a rare resource (young, healthy people) get preferential treatment for that very reason. Not all discrimination is bad. For example, Im 39. But, Im also an alcoholic. If for whatever reason I needed a heart transplant today, they wouldnt even have to think about it. They would just straight up tell me "no" because of my long history of heavy and constant drinking. And that would be more than fair.

@@SvendleBerries So the transplant list should be sorted by age and not by the person who is going to die first without the transplant or has been waiting the longest? A 30 year old that has been waiting a year for a transplant should be bumped for a 20 year old that was put on the transplant list a day ago since the 20 year old may live longer? And then the 20 year old should be bumped for a 19 year old, etc... Or a fat 25 year old should be bumped for a normal weight 25 year old since being overweight can reduce their life expectancy. Seems like age should be a consideration only after the need for the transplant is taken into account. A difference in your comparison to alcohol (or drugs) is that drinking is a choice, even if it's addictive, with known health risks. People can get treatment for drinking/drugs/eating disorders. Aging is not a choice.
@SvendleBerries
@SvendleBerries Жыл бұрын
@@khriss867 Youre making it too simple as there are a plethora of variables that can come into play with organ transplants. Organ transplants are purely about who can get the most out of the organ. Age is just one factor of many that need to be considered. - *"People can get treatment for drinking/drugs/eating disorders."* My point is that its an unreasonable risk. Fact of the matter is, is that most people with addictions end up relapsing at some point. And they often relapse more than once. That is why we are never viable for organ transplants. I mean, would you give a gambling addict a loan? Because thats one of the factors that caused the housing market crash in 2008; knowingly giving loans to people that couldnt/wouldnt repay for one reason or another. - *"Aging is not a choice."* Sure it is. Depending on how you live your life, you can either live to a ripe old age, or die young. Sure, thats not always within your power, but thats a part of what we are talking about. Just becuse someone is young doesnt mean they are healthy. The people that have the greatest chance to get the most out of the organ get the organ. Old people dont qualify, addicts do no qualify, thrill seekers/adrenaline junkies do not qualify, people with genetic disorders that cause severe health issues do not qualify, children dying of cancer to not qualify.

I had acid reflux for almost all my teen and early adult life. It was just a thing that I had. But the constant heartburns slowly damaged esophagus so that after a while each reflux became worse than the last. I tried a lot of medicine, visited a lot of hospitals. Nobody found the solution. Last year a had a not so serious injury for which I went to the family doctor to be sure. He was curious about my runny nose, you know because covid and such. I said that is something that I had always, since I can remember back. Turns out I had a sinus infection. One continuous sinus infection for almost 10 years. Not only did it damage my sinuses but also due to the reflux it caused it damaged my esophagus as well. It was lucky that the damage was that low. One over the counter medicine and a regular neti pot usage later I no longer have acid reflux. The solution was that simple, yet I never cared because acid reflux "is nothing serious". If you have constant reflux and don't know why it happens, a doctor visit can be helpful. Because the acid reflux could be a symptom of something completely different.

That's nonsense. Poor quality dairy, regardless of pasteurization, is problematic. I have gotten very sick on low quality, pasteurized dairy, and have never gotten sick on high quality unpasteurized dairy (I know how my sources produce their products, which is important to know). High quality, unpasteurized dairy is healthier than high quality, pasteurized dairy (pasteurization also kills all the beneficial organisms in milk). It all depends on the production standards used to make the dairy products as to whether you'll get sick.
@k.s.k.7721
@k.s.k.7721 Жыл бұрын
Pasteurization was a way to keep dairy cattle in filth and manure and still produce drinkable milk. Raw milk has to pass so many more tests, while the animals have to be kept on grass, and clean for their entire lives. Where do you think all the dead bacteria "go" in pasteurized milk? They are STILL there, so you are drinking 5 x the amount of bacteria than are found in raw milk.
@leiah6514
@leiah6514 Жыл бұрын
Not really, it’s more about the storing and collection systems in place. Pasteurization can actually remove healthy gut bacteria (one of the big reasons why we drank milk as babies) and prevent cheese from curdling into a healthy culture. It’s more of a concern when other bacteria is introduced that isn’t normally present in healthy animals or in animals at all.

House is one show I don't struggle to understand because the actors are so good with their nonverbal language and their enunciation -- and the sound work and editing are superb. I seldom have to rewind to clarify something. This from a 60 year old viewer who was diagnosed on the spectrum just a few years ago. Now I know why shows give me trouble. This one does not.

I found that bit being too old for organ transplant interesting. I myself received a liver transplant at age 63, 10 years ago. I know lots of people older than me who did also. Age is a big factor in transplantation, but it's flexible. There is no written upper limit, but it is heavily considered. The debates over who-gets-what-available-organ can be lengthy and hair-splitting. And think about it--for every patient who receives an organ, another patient doesn't. I'll take this opportunity to make a plug for organ donation: PLEASE REGISTER AS AN ORGAN DONOR. The young man who died and donated his liver to me had 5 other recipients. Yes, six people recycled his body parts; his liver, heart, both kidneys, and both corneas were donated, all from a single person.

Trying to guess what this man has: Notes to keep in mind: -had affair - cheese festival Symptoms: -acid reflux -heart problems -brain problems - testicle expansion -foaming??? I’m guessing the cheese has something to do with it, I just have to know what cheese it is. If its unpasturised it could be brucellosis since it covers most symptoms, plus the cheese festival thing he went to. House will most likely give him an antibiotic for him to take for 6 weeks.
