The Valley Circle Theater was packed that whole 15 months. I know, I was there. I went to see Star Wars at the Valley Circle at least once a month for that entire run.

In those days you bought a ticket and sat where you could, so I hid under the seat when the film ended, so I could pop up after the theatre emptied and watch the next showing for free. I went several times each week through its run, sneaking in as many viewings as I could. I Bought the comics, magazines and toys as soon as they came out. I'm in the UK, but I bet there were NO unsold Star Wars toys in Ollie's in 1977. I also did the same for ESB & RotJ. It is genuinely heartbreaking to see such a massive part of my childhood/teen years being desecrated and ground into the (salted) ground. The "modern fans" will NEVER appreciate what these franchises mean(t) to us.

I was lucky enough to be in Havre, Montana when Temple of Doom came out. Tiny town, tiny theater and people lined up outside for weeks to watch it and they went all out with decorations and the whole 'main street' were into it. In the 70's movies released Regionally - check out Roger Corman's Death Race 2000 and how he 'toured' with it in the 70's.

Also keep in mind, before Star Wars there was Jaws. I was living in Princeton NJ when Jaws came out. It was a big deal sine Peter Benchley lived in Princeton. The movie was playing at the Garden Theater which at the time was a single screen. Don't know how they turned it into a double screen theater, it wasn't that big to begin with. That was the first time I had seen a line for a movie. Fortunately I met up with some other kids that lived on my street that were near the front of the line. Me and this chick Alison were the oldest, she was 11 and I was 10 and we sat in best seats in the house front row balcony. Jaws didn't have as long a run as Star Wars. It played at the Garden for thee months and to us that was a long run for a movie. I was not scared out of the ocean, we went to Manasquan many times that summer. You may recall that beach being mentioned in the movie...

I have been a Star Wars fan since it came out and my Daddy took my Momma and all four of us kids to the movie theatre in 1977 and the film broke during the climax of the film! I also read comics, watched Doctor Who on PBS (when TVs had 4 channels and rabbit ears), Star Trek, Battlestar Galactic, etc, read Tolkien, Lloyd Alexander, McAffrey, Lewis, etc. And I am a female. So I, too, am a unicorn. I also played D&D from the OG version with my brother and cousins. Now it’s dungeon crawler board games with 1 or 2 players.

As far as Hunt For Gollum. Let it Hunt For Gollum - showcase things like Nature Of Middle Earth, Anthology Of Middle Earth, Laws And Customs Of The Eldar. Hunt For Gollum can be backdrop as well as main story in some cases. All while showing what was happening between the other races at this time too, such as Gandalf’s 17 years before arriving back to the Shire in fellowship of the ring movies. Segway smoothly to that at the end just like How The Final Hobbit Movie ended with Gandalf reuniting with Bilbo in Fellowship Of The Ring. Many things in Middle Earth was going on during those 17 years along with the 500 years of history between Men, Elves & Dwarves which caused part of what was called the 500 years of watchful Peace By Elrond. It can be more of a world builder to slowly inch towards other things. War Of The Rohirim has some great channels giving some interesting reviews and commentary about it.

As far as Anna's neice goes Dune is metaphysical, a slow burn, story driven, intricately plotted. Aliens is great but it's more simplistic, a horror/monster movie and very action oriented! That's why her stepdaughter couldn't get into Dune, she has no attention span like many other kids because of the internet and being raised in a time of instant gratification! Also, the schools are not teaching the kids history anynore, real history, not connected to all the identity politics, and tradionally history is storytelling! Their trying to ban classic books, novels, great stories, storytelling. If your not trained to appreciate good classic stories, how can you appreciate Dune, or The Godfather or a good classic slow burn, well plotted screenplay? Whether it was made today or fifty years ago. I think its all relative. Thank God though my neice is an exception she loves Tarantino and Scorcese and is a going to school for film.

Personally, I think present day Lucasfilm and Star Wars can be brought back to relatively simple basics: 1. KK is on a revenge trip for having been a gofer for Lucas and is systematically destroying Star Wars, simply because Lucas created it. She also has dirt on important people in Hollywood ánd has embedded herself in all the present hypes: woke, DEI, etc., so she's pretty much untouchable. 2. The "actors/actresses" are nothing more than activists of the lowest tier: the cult members who mindlessly recite the propaganda. 3. They also are very entitled and believe that the whole world owes them. 4.
