My freaking name was "RED!! Getchor Scrawny Ass Over Here!!" Every time, they wanted me, I heard THAT🤣🤣! So, I guess that was my name. I was 5ft 5in and 105 pounds in full uniform and had short red hair. So there ya have it. I was Airman "RED!! Getcho Scrawny Ass Over Here!" It cracked me up. I heard worse, so I was ok with it. That was the 80s and making fun of hair color and figure was typical and acceptable. We had a 6ft 2in girl from NYC they called Sasquatch, so I got off pretty easy.🤣.

A new sailor reports to his first ship, and like he was taught, he reports to his Division Chief. The Chief asks the sailor his name, and the sailor replies, “My name is Dave Chief”. There is a moment of silence, and the Chief shakes his head and says “I don’t know what they’re teaching you kids in Boot Camp nowadays, but this is still the United States Navy, not some manby pamby social club. You will call me Chief, and I will call you by your last name. Do you read me?” The new sailor gulps and says “Loud and Clear Chief!” The Chief smiles and says “Well, good. Now what’s your last name?” The new sailor turns red and says “My last name is Darling Chief”. A good 60 seconds of silence stretched out until finally the Chief said. “OK Dave, here’s what we’re going to do…..

When I was a young Midshipman, one of the firsties in my company called me "Mr. Tucker" for like, six months (past the semester break); it wasn't in a nasty way, but he legit thought that was my name (despite the nametag that said different). One day, the company commander hears this and asks, the firstie why he is calling me Tucker, since that's not my name; firstie turns on me and wants to know why I didn't tell him what my name was; the only thing I could think of in the moment was "Sir, this Midshipmen was not required to provide an opinion on his preferred name, sir." I got a pretty intense "spot correction" for that one 😆

I especially enjoyed the word "locker" being misspelled as "lcoker". that is the perfect attention to detail in creating these videos. Would also like to add that Los Alamitos is where I was exposed to Army Aviation as young person, leading to my Career as an Aeroscout!

I feel that. But what's funny is they knew how to pronounce my last name Kozlowski. The thing about the Army is that Drill Sgts wanna go beyond your feelings and train you to be warriors. Everyday I hear "Kawasaki! What the fuck!" Or "Hey Fuck Face/Fuck nuts!" Didnt even bother me😂😂😂

In my unit we had a Vietnamese whose last name was Nguyen. When he got his citizenship he changed it to Sunshine. The first thing me and others in my section thought of was thank god he didn't have that name at Basic. Those DS's would have a ball with him. Last I heard he went to OCS and is now 2LT or maybe a 1LT now.

This channel is becoming one of my favorites. My married name is Sedillo (pronounced Sa-dee-yo.) I couldn't use my birth name after the divorce because, for one thing, I wanted to have the same last name as my kids. I couldn't use my maiden name of Porter. Because during my working years, I was a court reporter in a small town; they'd never stop saying "Peggy Porter Court Reporter" in a singsong fashion. Now when I deal with people back east, they call me Ms. Sed- dilo. I should respond, "No, actually, it's pronounced Se-dilldo."

In the navy some of the lower ranks are Seaman Recruit, Seaman Apprentice, and Seaman (E1-E3). This lead to some interesting name-rank combinations. Among them were Seaman Drop, Seaman Guzzler, Seamen Sprinkler. Guzzler was a female and got her rate changed to Fireman (E3 as well) out of mercy I can only assume.
