Jennifer have you ever tired a dash of celery seed in your potato salad? It’s very good. I also add a bit of prepared mustard and a small jar of drained pimentos. I have even added a tiny bit of pickle juice. I really love the way you use what you have on hand and keep it real and make such wonderful meals!! People might give you a hard time about how little some of your kids eat but I'm of the mind that as long as a kid eats healthy foods, doesn't snack on junk food then it's fine. My daughter ate whatever she wanted for meals, I kept cut up fresh fruit and veggies in the fridge and she ate those whenever she wanted a snack. My thinking is I'm not going to argue about amounts because it would have made her unhappy, me unhappy and quite possibly set up a negative mindset concerning foods. Less drama is always a good thing in my book
@PethtelLady2 жыл бұрын
I was one of those moms that always freaked out about how little my kids ate and their pediatrician told me something at one of their appointments that changed my life. He said “Relax, Mom! I promise you they won’t starve themselves! As long as they’re growing, thriving, and healthy-they are fine!” And since that day nearly 15 years ago, I’ve never worried about the little amounts of food on their plates. What he said was so simple and made so much sense….and he was right. Lol!

Last year, I was driving my kids to school and my son, who was 10 at the time, grabbed my perfume from the console of the car and put some on his wrist & he said that he liked to do that because it made him feel better if he ever got sad at school. I like nuts in my chocolate chip cookies but I prefer pecans. I am not a huge walnut fan. I think pecans have a slightly sweet flavor. I like adding pecans into chicken salad too. I use chicken, celery, pecans, mayonnaise and dried cranberries in my chicken salad. I did catering and that recipe was a great seller. I made it using 20 lbs of chicken at a time and sold it by the lb. I roast bone in Skin on Chicken breasts seasoned with just olive oil, salt and pepper and used that to make my chicken salad. It was a game changer. The chicken had flavor. Your dinners looked delicious. I keep a lb of smoked sausage in my meat drawer at all times. It lasts usually about 3 months at a time. I use it when I have not thawed something and need a last minute quick meal.

Hey ! I always like to eat the burned or crispy casserole/lasagna corners lol ! Try as I may, all I own is cast iron pans, I can’t get my potatoes to get brown enough on any side. Kinda turns to mush, what type of oil did u use to fry them up? < kolabasa recipe. Is it best to use russet potatoes ? Tks for all the quick food ideas and money savers. These are hard times here too. Fuel is way up as well as groceries, with less net weight, they must think we are stupid. Blessings to all! Thunder Bay ❤️🇨🇦 oh and Happy July 4th neighbours ! It’s our Canada Day !
@Pharphette2 жыл бұрын
I use a high smoke point temp cooking oil like vegetable oil. Once hot, add potatoes (white/russet/red are more dense/firm and hold up best, but yellow is fine too) the key is patience! Like Jennifer did, wait 10 minutes before stirring to get a nice browning). Stir as little as you can at a medium to high heat :)
