If we live where snow is going to land you might as well enjoy it!

Also, cotton window coverings can lessen the actual wind but allow air to still circulate over windows and other openings (like the door hole you are thinking of doing).

Love your Channel! I was born in Manistee and have lived in Bay City and Detroit so I enjoy watching a Michigander do homesteading!

Stop by an Ace and pick up simple bucket lids that fit standard buckets.... (they fit their buckets). They are easy on and easy off and the water stays sealed in the buckets..no splashing. Trust me..worth the small amt to pay for them.

@@AcresOfAdventure absolutely! Well worth the investment. They aren't super expensive and so easy to put on and take off. Those lids with those tabs are a pain!

Put some hay down there for the pigs. It will help your ground by spring

Thank you! Me and my wife were just talking about what we should do before spring. Would straw work the same or should we use hay?
@quackerfarm1234 Жыл бұрын
@@AcresOfAdventure both would work cuz it will be broken down and put nutrients into the ground. Also wood chips would work best but hay is good to.
@mrmacgregorshomestead233 Жыл бұрын
Straw is fine too. If you have access to woodchips, you can do a layer of chips then straw on top. The chips will give them that more solid but soft layer to raise the bedding off the ground. Either hay or straw will break down quicker so the chips will create more of a barrier to keep them off the cold ground/floor.

Love the Channel. The wife and I are getting chickens in the spring we live in north west Montana and we were thinking about 8 chickens we have a fairly big back yard and we were going to build a cooptgat measures 8×10 6 feet tall inside with a run that is 5×9 we would like to know a good hardy breed with good egg laying. And would 5 nesting box's be enough. Thank you again for the Channel and information
