Was surprised at how informative this was, fantastic tips and advice in general whether a professional or doing it at home. Oh and if you haven't already, I would highly appreciate advice/guidance on how to grow strong, long nails because no matter what I do they are brittle/crack and are naturally very weak, like paper-thin. Looking forward to your future videos, thanks so much for your great teaching

My natural nails are pretty long like Andrea's but mine are a very even colour....but boy of boy do they twist! You only think Andrea's twist....mine are mental, lol. They twist so, so much, it's crazy. So I am glad to hear that adding product can actually help with that. The twisting in my nails drives me absolutely bonkers. Fantastic video, thanks so much Kirsty. Lee xx

Omg just imagine you're doing nails in a salon and THE Kirsty Meakin walks in! 😱😱😱 I'd be nervous af lol 😅 Edit - am I the only one who sees a screaming face in the free edge of Andrea's ring finger (at about 28:50)?

Such a great video. My nails are as soft and bendy as Andrea’s, maybe even softer. So I need to take of the product very carefully, otherwise I wreck my nails completely. The other day I took my Christmas nails of and my own nails were looking better than ever before. Maybe because I have a new and better e-file that takes of my acrylic better than my other e file.

Awesome video very good analysis on the natural nail... kirsty just 1 question for you tho. Do you advice that we should keep a thin layer of acrylic on the nail as a protective layer? Would really love your perspective on that. Thank you
@michellesutton2022 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the great informational video. I was told long time ago that the twisting was from pinching while the acrylic was being sculpted. I'm so so happy to learn otherwise, I only had two that twisted like Andrea's nails. I no longer got my nails pinched, and I always have had tips put on ever since.😓😓🤩🤗🤗🤗💅🎨✨💓💓

I’m going to show this video to my client who has acrylic overlay on her natural nails but the pointer fingers really curl in and the longer they get the harder it’s becoming to correct the shape but she’s so proud that her natural nails have gotten so long 🥲

I love watching your videos ever since you were naio nails. Could you please tell me what would you recommend underneath I get an acrylic overlay on my 1in natural nails as well. But they never put it on thick enough. I am going in for a soak-off in 2 weeks. So I'm wanting to know what could I ask them to put underneath to add more strength?. Thank you love you do very beautiful nails

Thanks for this video :) My nails fold vertically straight down the middle in the vertical lines, none of the Drs know why, just that they always follow the vertical ridges, then they become weak and eventually split down into the nail bed. I now have my natural nails either really very short all of the time, or I have gel overlay on to protect the nails. I wish I knew the cause :( Tip to matrix, I have a fault, same fingers (left hand pinky & fore fingers); right hand thumb. Been that way for years.
@tessaferard79782 жыл бұрын
My nails do that too and then I file them to fix it and ruin it because I end up over filing them because you can see the mistake when I add product. I thought it was just me

I think the twisting is from clenching our fists in the womb and as we sleep.

My left hand has a really great curve downward, especially my pointer. I love my claw shape. My thumbs don't curve though. My right hand curves, but not as much. Some people prefer straight nails, but I hate when one of my nails break and I have to use a tip. Too straight for my taste

Me too! I love my curved nails, I have good C curves too, they’re really strong!
@mintyblue38192 жыл бұрын
Right, most nails naturally curve as they grow. I like the natural shape most people seem to despise. I'm actually growing mine out just so I can have the right shape, extensions never look right IMO.

I was amazed to find that Australia- in particular Western Australia has no laws about using MMA! Never again will I go to a salon! I was wondering why they always had a very particular smell! I’m hoping to start my own nail biz from home this year 🤞🏼 can you put up some education on your Insta that is shareable about MMA vs EMA? Love you! ❤️ obsessed with your videos xx

My natural nails twist and bend in weird places when I let them grow out too.
@shelleyjoseph2262 жыл бұрын
I don't know why you need to take the product off the nails every so many months. I have been having my nails on for 40 plus years and the product has been ofg three times.
@carriefiddler42702 жыл бұрын
The acrylic doesn't last forever. The product starts breaking down and weakening after awhile. It's suggested to completely remove acrylic and apply fresh acrylic at least once every 6 months.
@MrsJolene-2 жыл бұрын
@@carriefiddler4270 so that's why! I was wondering why. But with shorter nails, and fast growing ones, it will never be on for 6 months. My nails grow sooo fast rn, I need to redo them every two weeks. I'm taking extra vit D and that makes a huge difference.

Remove most of the bulk with a file or efile, then soak off.

@@lynnrahl3352 I do that but it still takes super long
@lynnrahl33522 жыл бұрын
@@sheila7909 are you using 100% acetone? That is a must. Also make sure you've removed most of it with a file leaving only a small amount to soak off. Make sure the pad is super saturated with the acetone. It shouldn't take too long.
@sheila79092 жыл бұрын
@@lynnrahl3352 yes 100% acetone and I always saturate the pad. It might be my eflie are the bit. I always see the Neil Tachs saying “that will be soak off for 10 minutes” and here I am waiting an hour, it’s super frustrating. Thanks for your advice x
@KirstyMeakin2 жыл бұрын
Make sure you soak for 10, then remove anything that is soft. Then reapply pad and acetone and repeat. sometimes it can take a while. The other thing could be that it's MMA and not EMA
