Everyone’s favorite daredevil Johnny Knoxville is back to his hilariously painful antics in the upcoming comedy ACTION POINT. The scary part is that is based on a REAL PLACE: Action Park in Vernon, NJ in the late 1970s. We used to call it "Traction Park" or "Accident Park." They had a parking lot just for ambulances. :)

I use to go to "Traction Park" every summer growing up and it was a common sight to see the ambulance there and people hobbling on their way out of the park. I also remember a fully enclosed tube slide that was off to the side closed that had 1 giant loop at the end with a trap door in case you got stuck. I also remember those Action Park commercials they played all summer long.

Mr Critical us workers called it Traction Park and Accident Park...the rides were dangerous and the ride attendants, like myself, were 15 years old and up...hardly old enough to handle emergencies...and blood and skin burns...my friend was working the Alpine Slide on the top...it started to rain so they shut the ride down but made him take a cart down it...he went off the track and broke both legs...yup...Knoxville got that scene right cuz it happened at least once or twice a day...good memories though because I got to hang out with my friends and get paid for it every summer:)

I remember they played the commercials for Action Park during after school cartoons. It looked amazing, and kids would come to school after summer break with scrapes and casts. They said they got hurt at Action Park. But they always said that they had an amazing time, and that their mom told them and their dad that they're never allowed to go back there again. The movie get poor reviews... just saw it, I liked it. It's a comedy where all the funny moments are mostly in what happens in stead of jokes being told... consider it a Jackass movie spinoff, although it probably could've used a couple more Jackass members, Steve-O would've been perfect in this. When I was a little kid back in about 1965 ... i rode The GIANT SLIDE seen at 0:42..... I fractured my tailbone on that slide. I couldn't hardly get up at the bottom of the slide. Then I had to walk half a mile to get home. What happened was, we slid down on burlap sacks. One guy on each side of me PULLED my burlap sack and I FLEW up in the air and landed on one of the dividers. Those rides look safe, but kids do things the designers don't expect.

This movie is an homage’ to a park I knew well in my youth, the original Action Park in Vernon, NJ. That alpine slide cart going off the curve is something I am personally familiar with😉. It had 2 speeds “slow as molasses or certain injury”. The park paid the local ambulance corps to man a rig just for the park. I could tell 100 stories, but suffice to say anyone who went there in the late 70’s into the mid 80’s shall never forget it.
