Brought back a lot of memories. I lived in Flushing in the ‘70’s and biked into Manhattan on the weekends. Of course, none of the biking infrastructure existed back then and the QB outer roadway was only open to non-vehicular traffic on Saturday and Sundays. The only exception was the transit strike in ‘77. For ten days literally an army of cyclists biked into Manhattan.

I adore these two together. Don't know why. From day one when I didn't even know them. Maybe it's the sweetness between the two, yet, the adventurous side of them too. Also the earnestness. Ok, now am going to watch to the end again. Can't hear Mary Jane tho.

Nice somewhat bumpy bicycle ride on a variety of bike lanes, some seemed quite narrow and many streets congested. Hope the echo on your bicycle bell is back to normal. A fun ride with Mary Jane through many diverse neighborhoods.

Hi AK, greetings from Germany. When I was five and six years old my fahter had a job in NYC. We lived in Manhasset then. Could you take a walk through Manhasset, I´d love to see it again, I ve never been there since then. By the way, very nice video. Thank you and greetings from Cologne

Pass by Manhasset a lot, he could definitely ride a bike from Flushing to Manhasset. Nice area in Long Island.

I’m in Manhasset a lot & I would like to see what a bike ride through Manhasset would be like. Considering the area isn’t that bike friendly, maybe it would be too dangerous. Sometimes as a pedestrian, I feel like those drivers making turns are going to run me down while crossing the street.

10:36 thank god I didn't have a microphone, after that "Hey" bad words followed. I was shocked at seeing how a big white SUV came at high speed out of the highway and almost hit your back wheel. I stopped a couple of seconds and made sure he at least acknowledged what he had just almost done. I think you got only the last piece of the sentence directed to me: "you moron piece of shit". Respect cyclists people, we're way more vulnerable than anyone else driving on the roads.

That's really stupid how around 3:00, for a good ways there were buses and trucks parked in a LANE that was presumably meant for traffic. Unless there's some signage I missed or something I wasn't aware of. It's a lane not parking spots! I've seen that other places too and it's irritating.

Good video. A lot of drivers seem to need to speed up and drive by really fast when they see people on bikes, doing 35 in a 25 as if to say 'Look, my car can go really fast, much faster than a bicycle'. Some seem to have a compulsion to drive by closely to show 'Look, I can scare you, isn't my car impressive you can't ignore me, Biker'. Even the bus did it in the industrial zone doing about 40 mph in a 25. Very childish and unsafe for all.

This is no slight to the residents of Queens but my gosh is Queens beat up and run down. I only made it to 36 mins, maybe it got better, but the one question i kept asking myself was; Where in the hell does all the tax payer dollars go? Every street was completely jacked up with 3 different types of pavement sloppily slathered on top 3 other types of pavements, wtf? Then there was garbage thrown all over the sidewalks. I felt like I went back in time to the seventies and eighties, apparently that seemed to be the last time Queens was even maintained and developed. It's just shocking to see a place this densely populated with the middle class, that's so forgotten. I've seen hoods/ghettoes that are better served than this. Well, the only difference is that there are endless soccer mom mini vans all over the place.

Nice video, but I noticed you went through a bunch of red lights. This is very dangerous and against the law. Cyclists need to realize they are on a bike, Which is a Vehicle too but totally unprotected. When a vehicle weighing 2 tons hits you, your helmet will absolutely not protect you. It’s very dangerous for bicyclists to not obey traffic Laws which is the same laws that apply to cars and trucks, especially in NYC. I drive and also ride a bicycle, and I’ve seen cyclists hit.

That is my bike path to work from Flushing to Manhattan! @11:35 I would not ride in the street on a uphill, unless I have too. It is a very dangerous on that part of 69th Rd and car don't respect bikers. I wrote to NYC DOT to get a bike lane to join Queens Blvd's Bike Lane to Flushing Meadow Park's Bike Lane. Not sure what happen to that.
