That tidbit about 100k rounds running thru test samples of guns w/ proposed changes. This is why Beretta has a fraction of QC issues that most modern industry companies have. Superier in every way, especially when Langdon gets his hands on them.

It’s a strange and counterintuitive phenomena that you guys mentioned in the vid regarding barrel length. I feel like I have to work a bit harder to control recoil and the pistol in general when the barrel length is over 4 inches. Guns with 3 to 4 inch barrels definitely seem to return to target faster and easier than their longer barreled counterparts. However just like Ernest said it’s easier to be precise with a longer barrel which also aids in shots at distance. Most people think that longer barreled pistols will automatically have less recoil and that simply isn’t the case. Having said all that, most people choose 4.5 to 5 inch guns for competition because once you learn to run them they can definitely be more accurate for you.

Gripping my pistol harder is my biggest obstacle keeping me from improving. It’s a constant battle for me.

Try squeezing the heels of your hands together using your fingers like a hinge. Technique is more important than raw strength, although you should be gripping as hard as you can before the sight starts to shake. My grip got a TON better when I started using my support hand thumb to grip the gun. I previously left it barely touching the gun - basically useless. Now it keeps the gun from moving left/right during a shot.

In the video he talked about not replacing any springs in the 50,000 rounds they shot. Is replacing springs a normal thing? Springs should never really wear out. I’ve shot 10’s of thousands of rounds through my edc Glock in the last 17 years I’ve owned it. Should I be replacing the recoil spring?

Yes. Springs wear out by cycling.

John, I thought I'd heard you say you shoot somewhere's around 20k a year? Or was that just what you've shot through your current VP9? I've been through close to 10k this year, most of it since starting to run an M9 in April (6400 through the M9, 2300 through the 92 compact that followed, 500 through a micro 9, and a couple hundred through the PX4 compact I just snagged last week. There's more, but that's all I have recorded). I can definitely see where quality over quantity takes precedence. I don't know how I didn't run across this particular video sooner. I saw the LTT 92 videos. I've become a sucker for Langdon Beretta parts. I finally broke down and put a trigger job in the M9 about a thousand rounds ago. Oh. My. Goodness. I wish I would have six thousand rounds ago. I think the PX4 might have to get one, too.

This year (2019) I shot about 22000 rounds total. In previous years, less. In 2018 I think I shot 14000.

I personally would not carry a lightened hammer spring or change any internals on a carry gun, going bang every time is more important than anything else. The factory trigger may not be ideal for bullseye shooting but I'm sure its just fine for defensive use.

Most people who own a gun never shoot it at all. So if they get out and shoot 400-500 a year they will be able to actually use it with some mild confidence.
