Sandler seems like a genuinely nice guy, he keeps his friend employed year round and give them gifts and just have a good time at sets. Some may say he makes stupid comedy but that is kind of his charm and he knows his audience, they expect nothing more. Alot of times peoples just want to turn off their brain when watching a movie and just watch a silly comedy.

I never have been able to watch another Sandler movie the same way . I can do 'freaky' ...but that one crossed a line.

Its funny to me how the only people seemingly criticizing Adam Sandler are people who didnt grow up with his movies. Its interesting. Sandler has been a solid comedian and comedic actor for decades. He is responsible for all time classics as Water Boy, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, 50 First Dates, Click, Dont Mess with the Zohan, The Longest Yard, Jack and Jill, That’s My Boy, Punch Drunk Love, just off the top. Too many gems. He worked alongside Jack Nicholson, Don Cheadle and Christopher Walken. He nailed all his dramatic roles like Reign Over Me or Uncut Gems. It really feels like the only people hating are the recreational hate folk.

@@lightup6751 He stopped trying creatively in the directors seat. He was still giving it his all as an actor, but the scripts did not get anywhere near a much polish from 2006-2015. He might have just been busy with his family life. Because it's not just the Adam Sandler movies that suffered, it was the Happy Madison brand in general. The 90's/early 00's had Adam's hand on every single project. By the time we got to stuff like Strange Wilderness, it's clear they had a funny idea and just needed to go oveer the script a couple more times.

The haters/media/critics, are the ones who turned it into a meme to hate on him for being a bad actor/writer/director/comedian. I can even appreciate Jack and Jill (it's a kids comedy, not a PG 13 one.) for what it was meant to be and use it as a gateway to show kids Adam Sandler. It, Bedtime Stories, and Hotel Transylvania are great at introducing the younger generation in my family the nicest comedian to ever walk the earth(eriously, no actors have anything bad to say about him as a person).

I've never understood the humor in his movies, anyway. While most were lighthearted and amusing, the humor was pretty juvenile. Nothing against Sandler himself, I'm sure he's a wonderful person. He does a phenomenal job in a lot of his more serious roles, for example in Reign Over Me where he plays a man whose wife and kids were on one of the planes that was hijacked and crashed into the WTC on 9/11.

As a movie goer I do my best to avoid seeing Adam Sandler movies. Despite this, I have seen a few. "Airheads," (did not know who he was at the time) "The Wedding Singer," (hated Ebert's review, even though he's kind of right) "Punch Drunk Love," (overrated, but saw it) "50 First Dates," (it's no Wedding Singer, but it's okay) "Spanglish," (like "Elizabethtown" it meant well) "Funny People," (could have been funnier, but not bad) "The Meyerowitz Stories." (Hated the dad character, like you're suppose to) and that's it. What made him famous is what I hate. Everyone thinking he's funny if it's stupid enough. And let's not forget "Uncut Gems." (A happy ending that was not worth it) So. Am I being inconsistent? Not really. If it's too stupid for me, I just turn it off. On the other hand, just because he's in something, doesn't mean I won't try it.
