I didn't watch the movie or read the book, I just wanted to see the reaction. And oh my god, this reaction breaks my heart. The main reason I like your reactions is how you turn movies through your life and experience, open up your story (hearing that you were a victim of abuse was a shock) and share your emotions. I wish you endless happiness and I am glad that harmony has come into your life.🥺

This movie actually somewhat surprised me. The marketing was crappy but this movie was actually pretty good. I love the way it covered these dark topics. Even though Blake Lively wasn’t the most faithful casting choice based on the novel, she still delivered a very compelling performance. But for me, Justin Baldoni was the obvious standout. He strikes a very delicate balance, playing a character who is warm and charming when needed, yet capable of becoming genuinely terrifying and psychologically unsettling. It is indeed a very fine line to walk, and it really requires an actor who knows how to portray a multi layered depth of range, and he absolutely rose to the task to accomplish.

I completely agree, the role of Ryle demanded a transformative performance and Baldoni rose to the occasion. He delivered a great performance!

Really good movie. So well written and directed. The acting by the entire cast was outstanding. The scene with Jenny Slate got me teary eyed. Amazing work

Clarissa I really appreciate how you talk about these heavy topics. I have so much respect for you and hope you heal your younger self. So incredibly happy you got out. I hope other like you and Lilly can do that as well.

I really appreciate your vulnerability❤ I know u had some biases because u read the book but I didn’t and when I first saw it I totally fell for Ryles trap as a viewer😢 when it was revealed at the end it was shocking because I realized I’ve been in this situation before. It’s so weird how they portray the good guy so easily. Loved ur reaction ❤

It is a good film, authentic and ultimately thought provoking, so hits the target. We need more of these, without the risk of repetition. Truths are difficult but have to be heard. 50yrs ago this wouldn't have been made, as people thought they might have been a minority or imagined it. So we as a society are learning, and hopefully will give more respect to the victims but also to understand why people are bullies and help them see what they are doing and own their faults.

I read this book a long time ago and didn’t really remember it, but it definitely made me cry at the end when she was telling Emmy that it ends with us. Breaking that abuse cycle is so important. I like Colleen Hoover books just because she does “romance” books that are covering topics or have things happen that aren’t normally in your run of the mill romance books. Like there’s always an underlying problematic issue we have to face in her books. I just read what I enjoy and don’t get triggered by much or nitpick character development though.

As someone still trying to survive, I feel people are affected by what they endure when they are young or younger. Some subtly and some not so. People who can't relate, which is probably most, say ''get over it''. But your mental scars do not heal, even if on the outside it looks like they have. It is complex. My life has been about destruction of anything good, and I can't break that. 60yrs old and living with the consequences of my upbringing and the abuse I endured. Tried everything, and in truth there is no real help out there for me.

Regarding this film, it reflects how complex the reasons we are the way we are. There is bias to see Ryle as a nasty piece of work, but this character had to survive a trauma no one would wish to happen on them. I am glad that he tries to care but ultimately his personality hinders him. In the end, when asked, ''what would you do if....?'' by Lily, he recognises his faults, and inherently his good nature comes to the fore and walks away, knowing, he is still going to be in the picture but not in the way he'd hoped.

Loved your Video. No matter what happened behind the scenes (which we probably never gonna find out anyway) , this Movie is definatly not bad and I like that u don‘t fall into this trendy community that just talks shit about the movie cause everyone wants to hear it and tries to get clicks out of it. Hope u dont change that. Lots of love ❤😊

I never read the book (and I never will, sorry) and I had some mixed feelings about the movie (the characters, mostly). But in a way I kind of liked that the characters had so many red flags because it shows that you can be blind to a lot of things when you want to, but when you look back you realise that there were warning signs all along, which is how a lot of these situations come to be I think.

12:20 The red flags are so visible you could see them from SPACE. Ryles is not that charming or subtle enough to fool anyone, he's barely trying to hide it.

I had no context when I watched this movie (other than the online drama). I don't think I reacted as viscerally as you, but I definitely felt a layer of unease... the roof scene didn't bother me as much but when he started to pursue her in earnest after she made it clear she wasn't interested. That gave me a bit of an icky feeling. I felt like... he does not like hearing no and has decided not to accept it.

Jadd J.A.D.D. Jadd I didn't know what this movie was about, I didn't see any trailers, so I went in completely blind. I saw it with my mum and when the table turned I comforted her to make sure to see if she was ok. She loved the movie but I didn't have more books it's so self-contained.

I don’t know if you’ll see my comment . But even in the book , there’s no warnings or triggers about the DV and trust me , the movie was NOTHING compared to the book …the book was graphic and horrific. A lot of people was upset with the author about this and she said that if she puts it the content warning , it’ll be a spoiler…
