Overpriced by about $12,500. Start the price at par with the Italian price (17.5k euro/26.5k CAD) and it'd be a great city car and a real option, especially with government incentives in Canada.

Totally agree, these cars are great when they're actually cheap. Then they make sense as a second commuter car or teen's first car. If it's like the first generation 500e, they'll be really cheap on the used market and the batteries will be in decent condition.

The price your mentioning is for the previous gen mild-hybrid 500 however. This generation 500e starts at 29.9k euros (44k CAD). Mind you, the base model over there doesn’t get LED headlights, it’s all halogen lighting up front and it also gets smaller wheels. It’s quite the expensive toy even if I think it is beautiful.

@@AndrewKarpyszyn Yeah the price for the usable model(base has pretty much nothing in it) is about 48k after tax in Ontario. WAY overpriced as usual, making it a niche luxury product. We need affordable EVs.

8:30 it's like that in many EVs. if you press start without pressing the brake, the computer/AC/entertainment will wake up so you can set up navigation or play music. to actually start the motor the brake must be pressed to lover the chance a kid could do that alone. so yes... sometimes you have to do that twice if you forget about the pedal. if you own the vehicle you get it after 24h. have the same system in my BMW i3, had it in Skoda Enyaq. this is not a gimmick

Canada has free trade with the Eurozone, so there's no import fees. They literally should be charging about $10k less, there's no reason for it to be $40k. With the cost of batteries down and this being 40kwh, its not cost of manufacturing, its a choice they've made to make this a specialty product. They could actually sell volume here if they would price it right. But, I still love it. I also love the comment @4:15 about it not being a small car. I mean it is a small car, but the point is we need to stop thinking you need huge vehicles to carry some stuff. Hatchback cars carry a lot in a smaller overall physical size, and this is good. We need MORE cars like this, not less. So the car really isn't just a city car, its a car for most needs IMO. Thanks for the review!

Why the heck people think, that small EV's are practical in the cities, that is just beyond me: I have lived in many years in Copenhagen, the capitol of Denmark, which is less congested than most other European cities, but still I got everywhere much faster on a bicycle, than other people do in their cars! 1) you have to visit us in Europe in 2025 to see Fiat Panda, Renault 5, Citroen eC3, Mini cooper, and Hyundai Inster. 2) very happy to see small EVs as they are needed in cities 3) I recently replaced Skoda Enyaq (after 3y lease) with BMW i3 while looking for something bigger for family (iPace, Def110/GLE/X5 PHEV), but wife already told me she wants to keep i3 forever. you can park everywhere, its super nimble and fast enough to beat most of cars from green lights. 3) I still think it's they ask for too much for that but finally you can buy a small EV if you need a petrol for long trips.

Italian here. Yeah our roads can be quite small, so this size is quite "normal" for us. Most cars are between 3.6 and 4.4 meters long. A modern Honda Civic is HUGE for us (they don't sell many of them here). In Capri that's even worse, better take a scooter 😅. For the price of a new Fiat 500e here in Aus, you can buy a used MG4 XPower. The MG interior isn't great, but it has better range, is AWD, and is stupidly quick by comparison. Australia also gets the Abarth 500e, and the MG4 XPower is cheaper, new vs new. MG's comes standard with a 7 year warranty, the Italians only offer 3 years. You'd have to be _very_ style conscious (and maybe a brand snob) to pick the Fiat.

Still loving my 2013 Orange 500e after 82000 miles - weirdly it often has the same need to start twice issue (and hear the music) even though the original 500e uses an actual mechanical key! On the acceleration front with the new versions I suspect Fiat deliberately now retard full immediate power delivery as I can always spin the wheels on the original if I try to start too aggressively. Here in California, I've started to notice a few dealers with large inventories providing steep discounts on their unsold 2024 models taking up to $9500 off MSRP. When factoring in the tax deduction the cost is getting close to a "reasonable" price.

@@Cal94 LOL stop with the absurd nonsense. This is a liquid thermally managed battery and it does not have exceptionally high powered charging. @@Neojhun relax, all's I meant, was that cheaper EVs often have drawbacks, and the TSP guys don't dig into engineering and cost benefit analysis like out of spec reviews. If it'll fast charge safely, then great. It'd probably be [usable] without home or work charging... But depending on a given driver's needs, it could still be less optimal for the OP's hypothetical. Other EVs may charge from 0-80% in a similar time frame, but net more range by way of having a bigger battery. Or the local charge stations might be the primary limiting factor making the 500e viable over more expensive EVs. Im just saying things I'd be researching and math I'd be doing if I lived that hypothetical. But I can home charge and I got a PHEV, specifically so I could skip all that math.

after having owned 2 of the 2013-2019 500e models, this video is not selling me on the new model. I maybe just wait until it's off lease and can be found for under $10k

For my driving it could last me a week going to and from work so id get something like this. 34k isn’t too bad but i wish they could’ve fit a larger battery in it even if it wasn’t much bigger any small amount would help.

These were on sale in New Zealand starting at about $70k, iirc. Now you can grab one brand new for a bit over $30k. Imo went from bad value to very good value.

Reasonable price? I'd rather have a used Model 3. Twice the range, twice the interior and trunk space, and about 50x the reliability. EDIT: A new standard range RWD Model 3 is $39k; if you spring for the long range RWD it is $42.5k, but you get $7500 tax rebate and 2% APR for 72 months. New might be better depending on needs.

Isn't the Nissan Leaf more affordable and with more space than a Fiat 500e? For a city vehicule, that's an OK range but I think the price is a factor.

Stellantis does a couple things SO wrong here. First- nobody likes a modernized fiat 500. Put solid steelies on it, bring back 50s/60s paint colors, get rid of those ugly led fog lights and pit some more retro throwback lights in it, same with the headlights, and these will sell very well. Also having a mopar sticker under the hood will further destroy mopars reputation with dodge
