That last one is why I like the early RE games so much. It's like 90% just surviving against zombies and 10% storming bioweapon labs and the only monsters are the only time you get "people are the real monsters" are with the scientists who made the weapons, and even then that's mainly limited to RE Zero and the later entries, but it's mainly just betrayal for the sake of ambition and entrepreneurial gain than our regular working class drama. It's pretty fun to watch the rich tear each other apart.

@@witherwolf3316 Oh so you're a youngling who is trying to be edgy and cool. That makes a lot more sense. Yeah I can tell you're not that old because anyone who was an old RE fan knows that 5 is one of the best games in the series.
@witherwolf3316Ай бұрын
@@AIHumanEquality "You're a youngling who is trying to be edgy and cool." Pick an argument. Am I older than you or younger than you? You can't seem to decide. I stated, very specifically, that I like the early RE games because there is very little "people are the real monsters" messaging. I am both right, and wrong. The type of messaging they are discussing in the video is the type where people who are part of a group get mad at one another for mundane things like sleeping with one another or stealing food, hiding things, etc. In Resident Evil the messaging they send is that very specific people are the real monsters. Namely, those with ambition and a desire for power. Think Wesker, Birkin, Nicholai, Ramon Salazar, Saddler, Chief Irons, etc. People who will use a disaster, such as a bioterror attack, as a method of accruing power and influence. Resident Evil has generally stayed away from the actions of regular people when put in a terrifying situation as them being monsters because in Resident Evil almost everyone who falls into the category of survivor is working collaboratively rather than for personal gain. Stronger together, weak divided and all that. Now, addressing your points. Is Resident Evil 5 one of the best games in the series? Yes. It sold 14.8 million copies and is only beaten out by RE 7, 8, and 2R. I never said it was bad. I said it doesn't appeal to me personally, because I prefer the survival horror-focused games rather than the action-horror ones. You are not a fake fan for doing so. I am not "trying to be edgy or cool" by enjoying Resident Evil in the way I want to. And finally, Resident Evil 5 proves my original point. The entire plot is trying to capture Richard Irving, somebody with a desire for power who is attempting to use bioweapons to further that power. And later to take out Wesker. An individual who will hurt the people around them and loyal to them, by using bioweapons, in their search to further their power. You should have used Resident Evil 7 for your argument. The Bakers are regular people with very irregular traits brought on by bioweapon exposure. And they do terrible things to Ethan, to the ghost hunting camera crew, to Chris and his BSAA/Blue Umbrella team in the DLC. But that isn't a classic, by your own words. Nothing you have said has refuted my original statement. If anything, you've reinforced it by continuing the argument. Originally I was willing to end this with a "we can both have our own opinions" type of message. But it is abundantly clear that you do not respect mine, so I'll save us both the pleasantries. I will continue to enjoy Resident Evil for the parts of it I enjoy. Goodbye.

2:20 Fun fact: those shrimp (mantis- or pistol shrimp) DO have more cones in their eyes than just the red, blue, green cones humans have, HOWEVER, the cones they use aren't outside of the human visual spectrum, they're the colors humans normally observe by mixing the signals of the seprate cones' spectrum, as it turns out: shrimp brains are too small to mix colors, so they found a workaround by just having the already mixed spectrum as extra cones. @@justinwhite2725 actually, fun fact: the human retina can sense UV but the lens of our eyes absorb it, so it never reaches them. this is also what causes cataracts, and if you get cataract surgery, the artificial lens they use is transparent to UV so you start perceiving it... but our UV vision is not great so most people don't notice much change.

7:54 This isn't a boomer complaint. Cell phones are either small enough that it's inconvenient to scroll an entire restaurant menu on them (but perfect for anything you'd ACTUALLY want to use a cell phone for) or so comically large that they are too big to hold in your hand and use at all. QR codes often don't even work.

08:40 Counterpoint: Lay’s packages their baked chips in a matte bag, and Lay’s baked chips h have that exact same horrible aftertaste that prevents me from enjoying Pringles, because both Pringles and Lay’s baked chips are pressed from mashed pœtætœs, while regular Lay’s are sliced from whole pœtætœs. Lay’s baked chips might not be as greasy or salty, but the pœtætœs themselves are processed more.

I feel a bit weird about the Zombie stuff, cuz I believe the zombie itself is just a force that people have to deal with. You can have the humans are the real mosters story, actual genuine working together and preserving stories, or just general struggle for survival. Walking Dead wasn't wrong for exploring the concepts it did. It was everyone else seeing it gain big money and trying their own spin and oversaturating it. Hell, the original zombie stories from Romero were all some sort of critique on people living through it, and they were just the force they had to deal with.
@GaryOPostleАй бұрын
I think the Romero zombies were a criticism of mindless consumerism, that’s why his movie was set in a mall, but I don’t get why that guy wanted a show of people searching around for supplies? Did he mean more action?

On the cinnamon thing, if I remember right there's only 5 flavours we can actually taste (sweet, salty, sour, bitty, umami) and all flavours are just combinations of those in different levels. Spiciness is different because it triggers none-taste receptors (there may be others). Someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

4:00 actually cinnamic acid is a thing (artificial cinnamon flavor like red hots or hot tamale candies) that I accidentally made in an organic chemistry lab in college. I fucked up the proper steps for the experiment and the result was a kind of syrupy thing that crystallized in the pipette my partner and I were using to insert it into the mass spectrometer to see if we got it right. It hardened and we knew we had to start over. So I was trying to clear the pipette so I could clean it properly and start over. I kept squeezing the bulb and it eventually it loosened up enough that the next squeeze shot it out like popping a cork. It flew several feet and went into the mouth of the girl at the next table, who had to be examined for potential poisoning later saying it was like the most potent red hot candy EVER. Our professor did a proper analysis after the fact and identified it definitively. While pure cinnamic acid is the artificial flavoring it is also the primary flavinoid (molecule that conveys flavor) in real cinnamon. Though there are other volatiles that add depth and enhance it to make that natural cinnamon flavor, eventually someone would have tasted it discovered that flavor without the cinnamon tree existing. Sacchirin and artificial banana flavor come to mind. The former was identified as a sweetener by a chemist who couldn't be bothered to wash his hands before eating lunch and was surprised when every thing he touched tasted sweet. The latter they just sort of tasted random chemical combinations in the 1850s looking for an artificial banana flavor. I could see discovering the flavor profile accidentally for just such individuals.

i wonder if the less sodium thing is a mixture with a different chloride salt, I remember reading something about that at one point, that people are deficient in potassium so the easiest way to supplement it would be to add potassium chloride to table salt. apparently it also tastes salty, tho idk if it tastes any different otherwise. would be interesting to find out, I think.

I'd just like to say that ugly, fat, and old are not negative adjectives. They only have negative connotations and have nothing to do with who a person is (in fact, all of these things are subjective to some extent). That being said, Anne Hathaway is none of those things. Hollywood is trash.
