Taking my last CAS exam (hopefully forever) and I searched "actuarial exams" for kicks on youtube to procrastinate and this came up! Some really good points that I can totally relate with. I CANNOT wait to have my life back. Good luck with your exam!

I'm a step ahead of the game. You don't have to worry about a social life during actuarial exams if you never had one to begin with! :')

Hey there just started watching your videos and finding them quite enjoyable and informative! I am finishing with my MS in particle physics in May(but don't want to continue in academia) and am thinking about studying for and taking an exam or two over the summer. I was just wondering if having an advanced degree will make getting hired more difficult or you think it might be a benefit in some way? Thanks for any info!

+Kyle Kimminau my personal view is that additional knowledge is not a liability. I think it could bring an interesting perspective to your work.

What's the difference between Risk Management and Insurance vs Actuarial Degrees? I know you're not really into the recruiting side of things but anything you can tell me helps!

I have a night job, so I squeeze my studying in at weird times during the day. Boy, I wish I didn't have to do it this way.

Can you still be an actuary without taking all the required exams to be a fellow
@Ellellevlog7 жыл бұрын
+RJ Man yes. You just wouldn't be able to sign any actuarial valuations. Generally in a big company, there will be one actuary who does the signing, and everyone else just does actuary work. Generally, you will also be paid less if you aren't a fellow

Pretty girl, I've got two questions. Just from curiosity. How long have you been studying actuarial science? Do you have any academic degrees in AS.? and Is it possible to get exemption from passing SOA exam by University MS degree? Normally IFoA exempts their students who have completed university degree from approved universities. P. S. I've a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and Masters degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Moreover I've passed CT1 FM and CT3 Probability. Today gave CT5 Contingencies. I want to do an MS from University of Wisconsin Milwaukee or University of Illinois at UC. I expect your prudent suggestion.

I am a fellow of the casualty actuarial society. There is only one track - general insurance / property & casualty :)

I talked someone and they told me BBA prepares for the actuarial exams. I doubt this, is it true?
@Ellellevlog7 жыл бұрын
I don't have a BBA, so I can only speak in the hypothetical, but as long as you leave your degree with knowledge of basic derivatives and integrals (to pass your exams, not to do actuarial work), knowledge of statistics, and finance, it should be fine

what is the next best degree behind actuarial science for an actuary
@Ellellevlog7 жыл бұрын
+Grant Dahly it's hard for me to answer this question, because all the actuaries that I know have actuarial degrees.

Wait wait wait you don't want to go to zumba class but isn't ballet like 10000x harder?! And psh actuaries are plenty fun yeah sure some of us talk in a monotone voice and the grand majority of us talk to ourselves 99% of the time, heck I even know one actuary who signed up for zumba class yet never even went, o yes actuaries are awesome..cause we're all so very..*insert whatever adjective you want here*. *sigh* I need to go back to studying again..

+OmegaRelentless ballet classes had very minimal cardio. It's mostly stretching and balance. AND I plan to go to zumba tomorrow after work. So. I'm an athlete.
@OmegaRelentless7 жыл бұрын
I always assumed ballet classes would be pretty rough on the legs. Psh you gotta do 100 squats, 10 pushups and jog for 7 mins tomorrow for LEDA day 19 if you don't go to Zumba tomorrow hahaha.

+OmegaRelentless nah ballet is fine. Also, I WILL go. So yeah. Have faith
@OmegaRelentless7 жыл бұрын
Ah go figure and EH. I have plenty of faith in you! Just you know...I am an aspiring actuary which is along the lines of an applied statistics major..and you know..stats people typically look at past behaviors to determine the probability of..someone's future behaviors....and as you know......yeah...yeah...
