I wonder if the battery can be replaced. I would expect battery life to diminish over time and it would be good if it can be replaced. At 0:49 I can see the battery solder point and at 1:16 the battery is shown partly to reveal that it is MH, 3.7volts, 0.925 watt hr. Part number could be 49008 or 552030. At $299, it is pricey and the option to replace the battery could mitigate the cost down. What do you think Adafruit, do you have more info on the battery? Cheers.

I was wondering the same thing about the battery. I actually have Muse for over a year and my battery only last 30 min. I will probably have to change mine ASAP. Let me know how the battery change went.

I just replaced my battery. I took out the old 552030 which is the size in millimetres, I eventually found a battery store with a good range of lithium batteries. It is also used in mini helicopter remote controlled toys. I bought 042340 batteries. The shop installed it by soldering on the new one. It was super cheap - like $5 usd. I'm in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur. My old battery was very tired. Lasting only 8 minutes whereas the new one will run for 5 hours like a new Muse. Hope that helps.

ven rakkhita 5 hours?You mean you need to change the battery of this thing every 5 hours? You must be joking right?
@venrakkhita6 жыл бұрын
hi Chuki - I was meaning it needs recharging every 5 hours. Actually shortly after that the whole headset seemed to just die of old age. It stopped working. Maybe the battery installation did something. Anyway I switched to an Emotiv EPOC+ with Brain Viz 3D real-time visualisation and am happier. The unit is more expensive but worth the upgrade. I am happy to have used Muse for so long, it is a great opening to working with wearables. Also the guided meditations are great - which is lacking on EPOC+. EPOC+ has 14 sensors. Brain Viz is a real time image of your brain activity. Good luck

impressed so much, i honestly didn't understand very much of what was said, but it was clear you knew very well what every piece was, explained in detail humbly, not patronizing, very well teaching people who are interested in the muse, computer parts, hardware (that's all I can say pretty much about that! Not up to speed on technology, feeling "Obsolete!") :), you were extremely articulate, an impressive, educated woman. Any chance you could try for president in four years?,

what courses should I follow to understand how it works? e.g. capacitors, what it does, how to make muse copy (for example)?

So there's precision op-amps, but the A/D used is the one on the (PIC24) microcontroller? I'm surprised they didn't go with a dedicated ADC, like the ADS1299 from starcat's hackeeg. Can you do a teardown on any of the Vielight photo-bio-modulation products?

Does the fact that they are not using low-energy-bluetooth chip mean that they are sending some other (older?) bluetooth signal that is transmitting stronger radiowaves than other devices that would use a low-evergy-bluetooth?

Interesting build for sure. I'd love to look at the program running on the PIC, but I don't see that happening soon ;) Looks well designed overall; they put a lot of thought into their analog stuff. Thanks, as always, for the teardown!

Much respect and interest in your useful work there. I would like to add a minor tweak. TP I believe doesn't stand for Testing Point as suggested but for Temporal Parietal, the TP numbers are the names of the different Sensors like the ear sensors, the ones at the front are FP, Frontal Polar, TP the rear ones. Love and respects . ( I got that from kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnncmZ-go9ZskJY

Super Interesting Teardown! I just tested one for 30 days. I wonder why it has 2 USBs but as user you only see one.
@jonathancarriere77546 жыл бұрын
If you have only 1 visible USB port on your device you have a newer model than the one shown here. The USB ports aren't just for charging, but also for attaching accessory devices. On the latest model there is only one accessory port, whereas older devices had one on each side.
