It's Floor, what more needs to be said? :D I really like vocal coaches, composers, singers etc. reacting to music because you guys bring knowledge I don't have, and hearing the explanations make me appreciate the music and singing even more :) relatively recently became aware of Lara and fell in love with her performance From Lara With Love, so when this cover was released I dropped the video I was watching and went to see it, I just couldn't believe my luck, Floor did a cover of THIS song? I already knew she's an amazing performer, but this was still unexpected :)

Many others do a cover of Lara's adagio, even the italian version ,, see Il Divo.....Floor Janssen can sing, no doubt about that, but she does only covers, sheep copy's. Lara is still the greatest and the best performer of adagio an many other songs she rote ..Lara sold 25 million albums on her own, Floor a few then thousands......Floor became famous after het participation with Nightwish. she was asked to quickly fill in as a replacement in the middle of a Nightwish tour because the singer had left the group....Without that event, we would never have heard from Floor Janssen..

Every body knows that Lara Fabian is an amazing singer and her technique is out of this world, almost like a natural gift, but doesn't mean that she is the only singer with a terrific technique, actually there's a plenty of singers with great resonance, like Jennifer Hudson, for example, which is more powerful than Lara Fabian.

And by the way, never claimed on any other Singer in anyway, on the opposite, always finding and complementing them for their Aproach. And if your ignorance blinds you, just let me light it up, from Pavarotti till Dimash and ofc Floor and Fabian- they dont need mics to belt your Hair away. Anyway, comparing it to Lara Fabians Version Live (and not comfortably in the studio), Lara has something more - she takes you to several dimensions, she completely draws you in another universe. If you just listen to the lyrics and the way she phrases them, if you just listen to the melody and how she sings it, or if you just MUTE the sound and WATCH her performance and the way she expresses the song - you'll understand and actually get moved by it.

I'm glad someone brought that up. Yes it is not a "top studio" quality recording and mix, and folks that wonder why her vocal is a bit buried in the mix, should be aware of that. On Let it Go, I believe it was, she had the song remastered and it was a MUCH better track afterwards. Of course no matter tho, Floor is TRULY spectacular no matter the studio quality!
@sarahwithstars3 жыл бұрын
The delicacy of using her head voice at such a quiet dynamic for the first verse shows huge skill. In the huge peak of the song, did you notice her choices: "Nothing more to explain" downward arpeggio sung as a head mix (keeping the sound more at the surface to fit the mood of avoiding talking about the pain) Vs "but your in my heart" which she sings in full chest because it's a deep penetrative truth, even though the tones are more or less the same arpeggio, but it changes the mood entirely. ??
@jimballard18953 жыл бұрын
for me as a non-musical person i expect "covers" are interesting because they bring a new and different flavor to any particular performance. i truly believe Floor is as good as it gets when referencing her voice and abilities but in this "cover" she lacks the resonance and warmth of Lara's original - mind you this is a fantastic effort and detracts not from her efforts, it is just not her forte. Floor is and always will be one of my favorite singers and i cannot imagine a better nor more capable person to attempt to cover this classic - but again, for me, it is just a little short of perfection due to the Metal slightly harshness. As always, Cristy, your reactions and explanations are a joy to behold.

Floor has a beautiful sound. There's no use comparing anybody to Lara. In my mind, and as a professional musician for the past 58 years, I feel Lara has no peer for what she can do. That said, Floor is doing the song real justice by bringing her own sound to a great song. She is becoming one of my favorites as a great singer. I love watching reaction videos because not only do I have the privilege of watching younger generations admire great music, but I get introduced to "newer" great performers. Heeey. I dont know if you know about that, but in 2013 Lara had an accident while rehearsing on stage just before one of her converts. Her sound engineer almost exploded her eardrums, through the device that singers use to listen to themselves, her left eardrum was almost exploded 100%. She had to cancel her tour in Europe and Canadá, she kept in treatment for several months (we do not know if either she had a surgery in the eardrum or not), but what we know is that she spent many months with a speech therapist and also with her classical singing teacher in order to help her. She was unable you speak or hear as usual during an entire year. And for more than 2 years from 2013 to 2015 she was unable to hear her voice inside her head cavity. That's one of the reason after this tragedy she was dignidade with the Meniere's Disease (which is terrible and very painful), she had to adapt several words of her songs, changing the pronunciation of some vowels, as for example the word BELIEVE, in the song Adagio, she started to sing it with the sound beLAve and no longer with the sound of "IE" in the beLIEve part. After this accident, it took a few years for her to feel comfy on stage again. She also commented that she currently cannot hear herself 100% while singing, she might lost 40% of her hearing ability. We can imagine how physically frustrating and painful it's, since she was trained in the Bel Canto technique for more than 10 continuous years at a conservatory in Belgium. Thank you. Greetings from brazil! ^^

I hate to be a brat and dump a hint about the video, but I can't resist a good heads-up. At the end of the song, 2nd and 3rd last phrases, Floor adds some distortion that is different from the original, and that you could argue is not only unique to her, but something that really sets her apart from other singers that she can combine with her belting and head voice that others cannot. If you remember from the "Poet and the Pendulum" (on you channel it says reviewed "One Year Ago"), there is a line where Floor sings "Oh how I H-A-T-E, what I have BECOME! Take me hoo Oo-home". If you remember the way Floor sang the "HATE" with some growl and distortion, she revisits that technique in this song near the end. But lots of other facets too to her performance awaiting you, that I'm sure you will love to dive into! Can't wait!

This is a piece by Tommaso Albinoni (1671-1751) "Adagio" (which means in italian "very slow") rearranged by Remo Giazotto (early 1900s) who, if I'm not mistaken, wrote the lyrics in Italian (Lara's Italian version is precisely the one written by Giazotto) which was then adapted into English with some necessary modifications... It is to be considered as a piece of Classical Music, everyone can make a version of it... I am a classical musician and for me the Rock version builds the crescendo better musical which in the Pop version is a bit flattened as in every Pop song

@zoolooz23273 жыл бұрын
the original is already borderline off, mainly due to the fact she's home and not in a professional studio or maybe just by artistic choice. Now take that and put it in youtube aka compression and stuff, then take that degraded material and run it again in the software used to make the reaction video more compression, more disturbance and put it back on youtube, you know the drill... That's a lot of occasions to loose quality down the road.
@EricBeens3 жыл бұрын
@@zoolooz2327 All true statements. The mix on the original is probably a matter of taste. It was ok for me, especially considering this is all done in a home studio and I’m already grateful for the efforts to put something out for the fans. (And glad the voice was so drowned like on the Ave Maria song). But for the reaction video it does not have to be that way, having listened to many reaction videos by now. 3 versions have their best unique elements to make the song perfect like their own song: 1) dimash : different arrangement and structure, he raises keys and belting after belting after belting with all mixed and whistle, vocal extreme at its craziness with changing key in the middle of long hold note.He is young and super well trained and the passion with emotion he has on stage from the man perspective of the song( on his knees, grind the stage) . Technically, he has the most difficult version of the song. 2) lara: make the song popular and introduce its beauty to the world. She is the the woman deep in lyrics that delivers every word beautifully and acting and many experiences in the song. 3) Floor: she is versatile singer like Dimash. But she sings it similar arrangement as Lara’s version. She makes the song emotional and effortless singing. Very similar to Lara’s versiob but she brings some rock elements to it. She did the song nicely!!! Overall, 3 singers make the song like their own songs.

I see that your now ones are Tascam too, but can't see the model designation, would you be willing to specify which, and how's the general soundscape with these? Sorry to be geeking over audio at this magnificent rendition of Adagio, but this how I am.

More a tribute to a good singer (like the original by Lara so much). But totally in Floor style, sung masterfully, just stunning.

I really like it, but sorry...the original is on another level. For me it is a good cover a little shouty sometimes but very appreciable.

I love this cover, and I enjoyed your analysis, but I agree, her voice is down in the mix, especially at the beginning of the track before she clicks it into high gear.

But one of your followers said in a post that you tend to always listen to Floor.. not fair!

Nice reaction. Nice details. Nice presentation. Floor's mix was indeed not the best, the backingtrack/instrumental audiochannel was way too loud. (Not the first time in Floor's cover series by the way) A Little feedback to you: The difference between the audiolevel of your voice, compared to the audio level of the video you react to, is also too big. When i tune your voice to ideal level, it's clear and good. At that same level however, i hear Floor's video very low in volume, and i also miss the high tones. So i have to adjust that, in each switch you make, to watch your whole reaction video. You might check that out, and level it in good balance as well. keep up the good work ;-)

React to "El Triste" from Jose Jose, he's got one of the best voices in history of singers, you'll enjoy it. 👍👌

Compare this video with the one Floor released... and then this version does have more bass too it (or is missing volume in the higher frequency ranges). So it might not be down to just your headphones.

Great reaction again thank you. I think, your bass volume is too high. That decreases the clarity of the track!

I looove Floor and I loooove Lara, but this was too light for me. I guess I'm to used to Lara's version. Great reaction and reconstruction, as always

Love the reaction. Thank you. I do agree, I felt like the vocals were a little "buried" in the mix. Love the subtle bit of growl/fry she adds towards the end.
