One of the great t.v. series of all-time, and still has a large audience today. Whoever casts Martin Milner and Kent McCord as officers Pete Malloy and Jim Reed hit that one out of the park. I can't think of two better actors to play those roles.
@bluevictory10104 жыл бұрын
I agree! I think Jack Webb was the one who picked both of them. Both were also in an episode of Dragnet as Malloy and Reed.
@35diamondgirl4 жыл бұрын
Webb chose both of them. Webb and Milner went way back to the film Halls of Montezuma in 1951. Story goes, Milner won some money off Webb playing cards during the filming of that movie; Webb gave him an IOU, and when Milner went to collect his winnings, Webb offered him a job on the radio version of Dragnet. Webb chose McCord based on his guest appearances on the later TV version of Dragnet, particularly the episode "The Interrogation" in which McCord played a police officer accused of robbery.

I love watching Adam-12 in reruns. I’m sure as a very young kid I watched some of the later / last episodes when they originally aired. I was also an avid Emergency fan, and truly enjoy reruns of Dragnet. Wonderful shows, phenomenal partnerships between the main characters, and fantastically entertaining for years!! May each show have long lives in rerun history. I think every TV aficionado owes a debt of gratitude to Jack Webb for his creativity, vision, and ability to roll with the changes of society. On a side note: of all of the characters chosen to be authentic in every episode of Adam-12 was the dispatcher. In 1995 I became a 911 dispatcher for police, fire, and EMS with a career that lasted 24 years. It makes me extremely proud to know that I made a difference (at the time I was forced to retire) for half of my life. I didn’t find out until years after watching Adam-12 that the woman dispatching was an authentic LAPD radio operator (which she probably was classified at the time). I felt even prouder than ever about my career than I already did before! 😊 Adam-12, Adam-12 Take the 211 at the Goldeneye’s Pawnshop at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street… 1 Adam 12 Roger Thanks for the memories 😊

We were kids when once it was announced that Adam 12 would play at a later time. The problem was that that was after our bedtime. My sister Sherry, she was probably about 6, wrote a letter to the producer, R.A. Cinader asking if he could change to time back to the earlier time as before so that we could watch it. And you know what????...he did it! He wrote a letter to my sister saying that he would do it because of her.

RHCinderella, you showed clips from the episode "The Search" where Malloy crashes alone in Griffith Park. I got to be on Martin Milner's radio show in San Diego 20 years ago and asked him a question about that episode. I saw it as a kid and remembered the next week, NBC aired the next episode. Malloy's all patched up and back behind the wheel of a new police car. We were never told how long he was laid up, we were never told if the guy he was chasing was ever apprehended, and we were never told if the fugitive who stole his rifle and gun in the woods was ever caught. I asked if Jack Webb designed the show that way. Mr. Milner said Jack Webb didn't have as much to do with that show as people thought. Then he said, "I was up and about in about 3 or 4 days, but I was in better shape then than I am now."

Shows about "searching" for things that they'll never find because they don't exist insults my intelligence. And the rest are just p.c. nonsense that just doesn't want to to offend people even when it's not offensive. Yeah there were 3 networks but that meant more talent to choose from. There are meant to be together hand and glove like a story I heard when I was a child the old mature line teach the new Cub to become the next lion and it did work I'll never forget the episode when Malloy was pinned down and read rest his life to save actually dragging them across the floor I believe the episode I gave Reed accommodation metal his wife was a little pissed off because he risked his life but what the wife did not understand true honor and Duty is not a risk but a necessity when you do have hand and glove think about it I know we do are those of us that are out here thank you and thank to all the men and women that Serve and Protect US and all feels

Back when cops wore hats; it was a sign of their authority. I was a cop at the same time and we'd not be seen without one. Kind of hard telling who is who in the middle of a situation when they're not.

Im a retired cop and I totally agree. A police “cover” says authority and sets an officer apart from a crowd. BDU’s and baseball caps do not portray professionalism.

I love how you flipped between clips toward the beginning of the show and ones almost at the end of it's run. It really showed how Reed and Malloy aged. Very nicely done, except the music is too loud.
