I'm very curious about these teachings, specifically about the Fall and understanding (from an LDS perspective) how this all works. This video was helpful, but what other resources would anyone recommend to delve a bit deeper and wider? thanks!

I wish more men would pay attention to what is being taught about the true relationship meant between a man, a woman, and God.

According to John Walton, an Old Testament scholar, the statement that God “rested” means he took his place in his temple as the God of this world.

I did not seem to remember the serpent being a symbol of royal authority, or Messianic authority. Truly intriguing.

It is easy to focus on the Tree of Knowledge Fruit ... which must have contained an cascading enzyme that cut the loop cord on one side of the stem, (a looped stem attached to double helix dna = immortal) so a cut loop single stem attached to double helix with a 1000 year life expectancy. YET Therrrre was mentioned another Tree, the Tree of Life ... which apparently has a fruit with a cascading enzyme that reconnects the long stem or draws the stem back into a loop and immortal again!

As far as the rib bone, God sais he closed up the flesh so i an wondering why he would add that part if he didn't open to get the rib. Just curious. I am a member of the church and was just curious why that would be put into the passage. Please excuse my ignorance.

You know, I don't know where Kimball said such a thing. I know figurative meanings, and what they look like, but the rib bone story doesn't seem figurative 'only' at all, God doing such a thing was easily literal AND figurative. But Kimball is a Prophet, so if he said it, l don't want to doubt it, but I've never heard of that by any authority.

I lean to disagreeing that the taking of Adam's "rib" to make Eve is figurative. Eve needed to be made from something, as Adam was made from dust. So Eve was made from Adam's rib; she was not made out of nothing. Literal interpretation would coincide with Adam's statement in Genesis 2:23: "This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh." When God told Adam and Eve to not partake of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, He meant it. God means what He says. He didn't give them that commandment with a wink of an eye, with a hidden wish that they would actually do the the opposite of what He commanded. That is not the character of God.

That is what i am asking, he closed up the flesh. Why would he have to close up the flesh if he didn't really take the rib.

@@ruthannh.3188 that could be figurative too, but I still don't believe it was figurative solely.

Hebrew teachings are often figurative. It is part of their story telling and is used throughout the Torah and other Jewish books.

I discovered that blood is created in the ribs, blood is our life, life blood. I don't think the use of the word rib is used as a non literal phrase, based on the role the ribs play in our creation.

President Spencer Kimball is the authority that said the rib is not correct. While I have nothing against asking questions I do believe in our prophets.

Now the serpent represents royalty but what about at the time of the garden of eden? How did it represent royalty or Christ then? Moses with the staff hadn't happened yet

Hi. I have just read your commentary. Yes, it had happened, if you understand that who wrote the Book of Genesis was Moses, who lived centuries after the fall, at a time when the Serpent represented royalty. So Moses wrote the book, or received it by revelation, in his time, not at Adams time. (Writing from Brazil)

If not the rib bone, then what part of Adam was used to create Eve ?

No body part is used. Eve was created just like Adam was.

Help meet is a wife. This is confirmed when god took his daughter unto the man and gave her to adam or the man.adam gives his vows and they are married adam gives prophetic insight but also says he left his mother and heavenly father. Thank you mother eve a wife's wisdom and insight allowed us to be here and allowed christ to fulfill his purpose
