Don't know why the rabbi said historians. Definitely not historians in the traditional sense of the word lol. We Orthodox Jews believe that Scripture was given with an Oral component, which was first set down in writing in the time of the Rabbis of the mishnah, roughly 2nd century CE. The two primary volumes are the Midrash and the Mishna/Talmud. The Midrash tends to focus predominantly on filling in the narrative of the Torah with extra facts, details, teachings, and parables. The Mishna and Talmud focus largely on Jewish laws and rituals, but also contains some exposition of scripture as well. This is the "historians" of which Rabbi Friedman speaks of.

Notice God only did this with Adam and not Eve. So the the very breath that God passed through Adam was taken from Adam to create Eve and so on. I believe this is how we are all connected to God. We are all born with curious nature about a higher power. In my opinion that’s because it’s part of who we are, it’s already in us.

It amazes me how knowledge is kept from even those who appear to be Godly people? Pagan religions teach that we are 3. Body, Soul and Spirit, but the Torah teaches that we are 2, "Soul(body) and Spirit." Pagans teach that the Soul is some type of invisible thing inside our bodies that can be taken away from us by a being they call the Devil (Satan, Serpent, etc.) when we sin? "Fear him who can kill the soul and body in hell" Mt.10:28. Can your body go to hell with you when you die? No, so this statement is fictional. The term "Soul" is simply a Torah word for "body" which was corrupted to support the Trinity invention. For instance the LORD God said in Lv 5:2, "If a soul touches anything unclean...(HE) hath offended; Lv 5:3, "if a soul touches anything unclean, (HE) hath trespassed; Lv 5:4, " If a soul swear (and pronounce with its lips....) "No soul shall eat blood" Lv 17:12. Here's a perfect example that soul means body, Lv 22:11, "But if the Priest buys any soul with money....." The Priest has to feed that person! I hope this knowledge helps someone.

They must resolve it this way for everything to occur within a literal 24 hour time frame however the Torah does not give such a literal time frame as evening and morning in the sense that we know it as was not created until the 4th day! Also it makes no sense at all that the Spirit could enjoy the fruit of God's labor in 6 literal 24 hour periods! When you see everything done on the 6th day you know Hashem did not mean a literal sun set, actually if you take the text literally it would be 12 hours because the text states evening (dark where 3 stars can be seen) and morning ( the time at which you awake or your surroundings become visible from the light)

I tell you you religious folk don't really read your Bible, every bit of The Narrative of the Bible is about how the bloodline of Seth was to remove the children of the Angels which will referred to as the Nephilim, the term Nephilim in the Hebrew means the Fallen ones. Everyone remembers Israel was given Canaan land the land of milk and honey, they just don't seem to remember God commanded them to kill all the women men and Children of the Nephilim race in order to receive it, and allegoric history which leads to them inheriting the Angels first a state at the end of the book, wise men call it heaven. This is EXACTLY what it means to be G-d's Chosen People. But what people don't know is that the Israelites (Jews are the modern day descendants of the Israelite Tribe of Judah, and fhe remants of the other 11 Tribes) were the last nation to be offered to the Torah, not because G-d didn't choose the Israelites, He most certainly did, but because He wanted to give the other nations ro opptunity to accept the Torah. But every nation asked questions about what was in the Torah, which immediately disqualified them. But the Israelites, accepted first of their own free will (so it was a mutual choice), and then they asked what's in it. What would have happened had another nation accepted first? Simple, they would have become a part of the Israelites...we may be a nation unto ourselves, and therefore a distinct ethnic group, but we do accept spiritual conversion, you literally become a part of the Tribe...but this conversion is a one way door. Anyways, so being the Chosen People isn't about being favoured by G-d, so much as being chosen to be the world's priests. Jews have Cohanim, the descendants of Aharon (Moshe's brother), they are our priests, and the rest of what would have been the Tribe of Levi, are the Priest's assistants basically, and Yisraelim (the rest of the Jews) are the priests for the other nations. That doesn't mean we are the spiritual leaders for everyone else, it just means we have to set an example for other nations and people, we have to perform Tikkuun Olam (literally heal the world), something many Jews, including completely secular, non-observant Jews by birth but culturally assimilated do a lot of. Part of this is also positively ontributing to global society as a whole through contributions to science and medicine, and technology (think of how many Nobel Prizes have been won by Jews despite being 0.25% of the global population, or Jewish contributions to major technology and medical breakthroughs), to showing the world Monotheism and spreading G-ds word in many different ways, there are concepts from the Torah that show up in Eastern philosophies even if they arent monotheistic. Being the Chosen People is a burden, as much as it's a privilege.

It is determined "vaguely" by the lineage record told in other books in the Torah collection. The conclusion, reached and agreed upon by religious scholars, is that the earth must be approximately 6,000 years old. Therefore, based on this interpretation, and the age of Adam at the time of his death, they extrapolate the age of Adam at the time of the "Fall" (which would be a decimal figure) and approximate "1 hour" of his accumulated existence, at the time. Eve, of course, would have been perhaps 45 minutes old ... hence, the ease with which, the serpent was able to "dazzle" her with visions of grandeur. Now, before you begin searching the ground for hefty rocks ... let me just say that I recognize this as a theory offered by some ... but, not necessarily my own. After all, it is not nearly as important what I think, as it is what you think. So, if you will excuse me ... I feel the urge to gather rocks. 😉

er-r-r-r "Also shows god as actually having a plan not just reacting." ?? Or, seeing god is by definition 'omniscient', doesn't that mean his 'plan' WAS to create things he COULD react to? He then created more ground for reaction by deliberately creating 'sin' and serpents and women unable to resist temptation (none of which existed, nor COULD have existed, without his input. And ALL that MUST HAVE BEEN DELIBERATELY PLANNED, since god, again by definition, is NOT able to commit errors nor rely upon 'chance' Ask the rabbi: he won't respond to me for some reason!🙁

To me, whether it was an 9 hours or 30 years doesn't change who God and Adam were in the story. Dont let time convince you whether the story is false or true. To God time is irrelevant, and only belongs to human insecurity and extinct dinosaurs. The story is true because it shows the level of Love that God had for Adam and his offspring. This Rabbi speaks from the beautiful depths of the Torah, many too scared to venture into because they unfortunately trust in Man more than God.

The only issue I have with this story is if Adam felt it was right why did he feel shame when He ate the fruit he also tried to hide he knew he was wrong he also tried to cover his self due to the knowledge of nakedness ect
@jacobsamuelson31812 жыл бұрын
@@YAWNFILMZ Adam didn't feel it (eating the fruit) was right, in fact it was probably the first time in his young life where he felt bad about something. The story is showing how God was wanting this reaction in His creations eventually. What we should understand is that although Adam was ashamed of being naked in front of Gods who he respected, it doesn't mean he was trying to hide his error from God. He answered God truthfully and honestly. He hid because of nakedness, where we are to believe clothing was understood as a moral obligation and courtesy since the beginning. God appeared to Adam, who was still without sin, to inquire the proceedings. In my opinion and close read, the punishments were more like warnings God gave as the natural consequence to the man and woman. The only curse was to the snake, who knew right from wrong already and chose wrong. The rest needed to learn to appreciate life by experiencing death and pain.

1 Timothy 2:14 says Adam was not deceived, but Eve was deceived. How can she be deceived if she was the one that knew what God really wanted? I appreciate the Rabbi's interpretation. I believe Christians can learn a lot from Jews in understanding the bible. They are the ones that have been chosen by God to bring the knowledge of God into this world. In this case, however, I have to disagree with the Rabbi. According to Timothy, Eve was deceived, meaning she was tricked by Satan. Adam on the other hand was not deceived. He knew what was going on. He knew what would happen. I think that Adam made a choice. His choice was to stay with God or to fall from grace with the woman that he loved. Adam chose to fall with Eve.

Also he forgets to mention the seed of the serpent and the plan of satan to corrupt it. Notice he mentions eating from the tree and not the beguiling of Eve. The bigger question to ask is why would an all knowing Creator put a tree "he" did not want to be eaten from in front of beings he knew good and well would eat from it? That would be much like putting a tray of goodies in front of two year olds and telling them not to eat the goodies when you already know they will. Then getting angry and upset because they did what you already knew they would do. Isn't our lives much like this tree of knowledge of "good and evil"? We make certain choices and those choices have certain outcomes. The question now is, do we learn from those choices or do we keep repeating the same choices and expecting different results, I've done a good bit of that myself. Better yet how can I condemn anyone for their poor choices when I've made plenty of my own? What would our world look like if we showed the mercy we want for ourselves to others, or give out the forgiveness we want to be bestowed upon us to others? I think we are missing the point of the Rabbis metaphor, what can we collectively do to make this world we all live in a better place for us all? To be honest saying that's just how it is, or it's a corrupt world, isn't getting the job done. Debates on the fine points of our beliefs isn't accomplishing the task either. We live in a world of Cause and Effect we all know this but just don't believe it, if we mind the Cause, or what we are putting out, the effect will take care of itself. Why not put out love and forgiveness something we all want for ourselves. Namaste' and Blessed Be
