Adam also named all the animals (Genesis 2:19), and I’m pretty sure this was before Eve was created. The account says, in verse 20, that he noticed the animals all had mates, but that he had none. And verses 21 & 22 says how God created Eve.👍 I seriously doubt Adam could have named all the animals in a few hours😊🙏🏽🙏🏾🙏🙏🏿

@@peacefulruler1 God didn’t take a soul from some other place and place it into Adam. When God breathed into Adam he passed part of his very soul into Adam. Notice God only did this with Adam and not Eve. So the the very breath that God passed through Adam was taken from Adam to create Eve and so on. I believe this is how we are all connected to God. We are all born with curious nature about a higher power. In my opinion that’s because it’s part of who we are, it’s already in us.

It amazes me how knowledge is kept from even those who appear to be Godly people? Pagan religions teach that we are 3. Body, Soul and Spirit, but the Torah teaches that we are 2, "Soul(body) and Spirit." Pagans teach that the Soul is some type of invisible thing inside our bodies that can be taken away from us by a being they call the Devil (Satan, Serpent, etc.) when we sin? "Fear him who can kill the soul and body in hell" Mt.10:28. Can your body go to hell with you when you die? No, so this statement is fictional. The term "Soul" is simply a Torah word for "body" which was corrupted to support the Trinity invention. For instance the LORD God said in Lv 5:2, "If a soul touches anything unclean...(HE) hath offended; Lv 5:3, "if a soul touches anything unclean, (HE) hath trespassed; Lv 5:4, " If a soul swear (and pronounce with its lips....) "No soul shall eat blood" Lv 17:12. Here's a perfect example that soul means body, Lv 22:11, "But if the Priest buys any soul with money....." The Priest has to feed that person! I hope this knowledge helps someone.

They must resolve it this way for everything to occur within a literal 24 hour time frame however the Torah does not give such a literal time frame as evening and morning in the sense that we know it as was not created until the 4th day! Also it makes no sense at all that the Spirit could enjoy the fruit of God's labor in 6 literal 24 hour periods! When you see everything done on the 6th day you know Hashem did not mean a literal sun set, actually if you take the text literally it would be 12 hours because the text states evening (dark where 3 stars can be seen) and morning ( the time at which you awake or your surroundings become visible from the light)

It is determined "vaguely" by the lineage record told in other books in the Torah collection. The conclusion, reached and agreed upon by religious scholars, is that the earth must be approximately 6,000 years old. Therefore, based on this interpretation, and the age of Adam at the time of his death, they extrapolate the age of Adam at the time of the "Fall" (which would be a decimal figure) and approximate "1 hour" of his accumulated existence, at the time. Eve, of course, would have been perhaps 45 minutes old ... hence, the ease with which, the serpent was able to "dazzle" her with visions of grandeur. Now, before you begin searching the ground for hefty rocks ... let me just say that I recognize this as a theory offered by some ... but, not necessarily my own. After all, it is not nearly as important what I think, as it is what you think. So, if you will excuse me ... I feel the urge to gather rocks. 😉

I disagree with that story....GOD doesn't need his creation fixed by humans, including Adam and Eve. The purpose of having the Tree of Knowledge in the Garden of Eden, was more like a object Divinely design to trigger the exercise of "Free Will". The only portion of human creation incorporated in the "Self " that had not been tested. And so the story goes, Adam and Eve chose wrong.

Do not push the red button. They asked me why. I told them that I couldn’t tell them , just do not push that red button. As I was leaving the room, looking back, they were pushing the red button. My Mom left the room when I was small, probably almost the age I could be in a room alone for a few minutes. She was ironing clothes and told me not to touch the iron. Well, I touched it and started to cry because it hurt my finger and I was so afraid my Dad would be upset that I didn’t listen! Well, they both comforted me and I got a bandaid. I learned in college then that children can’t understand the negative of things like “can’t” or “don’t”-instead they can better understand what to do, rather than what “not” to do, as that translates as “to do”.

Also he forgets to mention the seed of the serpent and the plan of satan to corrupt it. Notice he mentions eating from the tree and not the beguiling of Eve. Don't know why the rabbi said historians. Definitely not historians in the traditional sense of the word lol. We Orthodox Jews believe that Scripture was given with an Oral component, which was first set down in writing in the time of the Rabbis of the mishnah, roughly 2nd century CE. The two primary volumes are the Midrash and the Mishna/Talmud. The Midrash tends to focus predominantly on filling in the narrative of the Torah with extra facts, details, teachings, and parables. The Mishna and Talmud focus largely on Jewish laws and rituals, but also contains some exposition of scripture as well. This is the "historians" of which Rabbi Friedman speaks of.

I've been searching for God for so long. I've been terrified of going to hell. My life has been so unconventional. I ended up transgender. That was a big no no. I ended up with two wives. Didn't even chase after them, it just happened. It came with immense trauma. I've made every mistake in the book. However, if I wouldn't have made the mistakes I did, 3 children, their mother, one of my wives, my best friend, a homeless woman, and another homeless woman would all be dead. Not only that, none of them believe in God, yet I have the most intense dreams. I ended up in every place I was not supposed to be. I even ended up in a cult and then 4 different religions. I've met more people than I can keep track of. One day though, I had 3 dreams where I met God. He showed me how he saved my life, what my dreams meant, and a secret to how it all works. Now no one understands how everything can be so bad, how I've made so many mistakes, be told I am going to hell, yet every day I talk to Him. I love him so much. I only want to be better for Him and I feel like I fail all the time. I do fail all the time, but I try again.. thank you. Seriously thank you. Your wisdom is exactly what I needed to carry on.

I enjoyed hearing your interpretation. This is an interesting theory but it seems to be based on opinion and not on what's actually written. For instance how did historians conclude that Adam and Eve were 9 hours old and ate the fruit one hour later? I don't know how much the Torah and the Bible differ, but in the Bible it says Adam and Eve were created on the sixth day and on the seventh day God rested and took pleasure in his works. That doesn't sound like they had already eaten the fruit. The concept that God intended mankind to fall so that we could fix the world certainly discounts the Christian viewpoint that we're incapable of that task and need God to intervene and save us. If God's plan was for us to fix the world it doesn't seem to be working.

@JS, The Torah is the first five books of what Christians call the "Old Testament". We Jews call our Bible the Tanakh. It differs from the Old Testament in the manner the books are arranged. What R' Friedman referred to in terms the 9th hour and 10th hour are explained a text called Midrash Rabbah, more specifically B'reshit Rabbah (Genesis Rabbah). It's an hermeneutic work in the Rabbinic Tradition. It would help you understand his exposition better. Also, as he said, the Torah text can be read in many different ways. This is what he did there. In fact, Chazal (our Sages of blessed memory) talked about the 70 faces of the Torah. There's more, but I hope this eases into our Bible reading tradition. The basic premise of the Torah is that humans have a free will and ability to do what is best for them. Therefore, they don't need anyone to do anything for them. This point is best explained in Ezekiel 18. Read it.

They refused to obey my laws and teachings, and they treated the Sabbath as any other day. I became angry and decided to punish them in the desert. 22But I did not. That would have disgraced me in front of the nations that had seen me bring the Israelites out of Egypt. 23 So I solemnly swore that I would scatter the people of Israel across the nations, 24because they had disobeyed my laws and ignored my teachings; they had disgraced my Sabbath and worshiped the idols their ancestors had made. 25I gave them laws that bring punishment instead of life, 26and I let them offer me unacceptable sacrifices, including their first-born sons. I did this to horrify them and to let them know that I, the LORD, was punishing them. 27Ezekiel, tell the people of Israel that their ancestors also rejected and insulted me 28by offering sacrifices, incense, and wine to gods on every hill and under every large tree. I was very angry, because they did these things in the land I had given them! 29I asked them where they went to worship those gods, and they answered, “At the local shrines.”+ And those places of worship are still called shrines. 30Then ask the Israelites why they are following the example of their wicked ancestors 31by worshiping idols and by sacrificing their own children as offerings. They commit these sins and still think they can ask me for a message. As surely as I am the living LORD God, I will give them no answer. 32They may think they can be like other nations and get away with worshiping idols made of wood and stone. But that will never happen!

This is EXACTLY what it means to be G-d's Chosen People. But what people don't know is that the Israelites (Jews are the modern day descendants of the Israelite Tribe of Judah, and fhe remants of the other 11 Tribes) were the last nation to be offered to the Torah, not because G-d didn't choose the Israelites, He most certainly did, but because He wanted to give the other nations ro opptunity to accept the Torah. But every nation asked questions about what was in the Torah, which immediately disqualified them. But the Israelites, accepted first of their own free will (so it was a mutual choice), and then they asked what's in it. What would have happened had another nation accepted first? Simple, they would have become a part of the Israelites...we may be a nation unto ourselves, and therefore a distinct ethnic group, but we do accept spiritual conversion, you literally become a part of the Tribe...but this conversion is a one way door. Anyways, so being the Chosen People isn't about being favoured by G-d, so much as being chosen to be the world's priests. Jews have Cohanim, the descendants of Aharon (Moshe's brother), they are our priests, and the rest of what would have been the Tribe of Levi, are the Priest's assistants basically, and Yisraelim (the rest of the Jews) are the priests for the other nations. That doesn't mean we are the spiritual leaders for everyone else, it just means we have to set an example for other nations and people, we have to perform Tikkuun Olam (literally heal the world), something many Jews, including completely secular, non-observant Jews by birth but culturally assimilated do a lot of. Part of this is also positively ontributing to global society as a whole through contributions to science and medicine, and technology (think of how many Nobel Prizes have been won by Jews despite being 0.25% of the global population, or Jewish contributions to major technology and medical breakthroughs), to showing the world Monotheism and spreading G-ds word in many different ways, there are concepts from the Torah that show up in Eastern philosophies even if they arent monotheistic. Being the Chosen People is a burden, as much as it's a privilege.

Adam was the devil made to conquer the original inhabitance of the earth to rule them and bring forth the understanding that The original people male and female ellohim are the GOD from the beginning. That’s it. Not to save the world but to bring forth the evil that the original people did not have any inclination to bring forth upon themselves to the point of Adam destroying himself, (surely die) because Adam is made to die, not able to reproduce after 6 generations and the cannot make no more babies. So eat from the original trees. The original people. Take the fruit of the womb of the original trees. You will surely Die. Adam shows us the evil, upon death of Adam the world will be at true peace.

We obey it brings him joy and we gain favor or we disobey his law and it brings sorrow and wrath. God can perceive the outcomes of every choice we make but that doesn't mean he sees the one we will make. To me, whether it was an 9 hours or 30 years doesn't change who God and Adam were in the story. Dont let time convince you whether the story is false or true. To God time is irrelevant, and only belongs to human insecurity and extinct dinosaurs. The story is true because it shows the level of Love that God had for Adam and his offspring. @@YAWNFILMZ Adam didn't feel it (eating the fruit) was right, in fact it was probably the first time in his young life where he felt bad about something. The story is showing how God was wanting this reaction in His creations eventually. What we should understand is that although Adam was ashamed of being naked in front of Gods who he respected, it doesn't mean he was trying to hide his error from God. He answered God truthfully and honestly. He hid because of nakedness, where we are to believe clothing was understood as a moral obligation and courtesy since the beginning. God appeared to Adam, who was still without sin, to inquire the proceedings. In my opinion and close read, the punishments were more like warnings God gave as the natural consequence to the man and woman. The only curse was to the snake, who knew right from wrong already and chose wrong. The rest needed to learn to appreciate life by experiencing death and pain.

And if that timeline is true, with it being that Adam was created on the sixth day, did God not rest until after the fall? I appreciate your time and thank you!

Thank you, Rabbi. There are many of us Christians (myself included) who, even from the early Christian movement, held to the idea not of Original Sin, but of Original goodness. As someone who holds that interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures requires listening to the people whose book it is, it brings me much joy to know that there is a Jewish interpretation of Genesis 3 that affirms that. Peace be with you.

Are you serious? The text is talking about how Adam and Eve rebelled with the angels against God and altered the creation which was the sin of the Angels who let their first estate and were laying with the women of men.. I tell you you religious folk don't really read your Bible, every bit of The Narrative of the Bible is about how the bloodline of Seth was to remove the children of the Angels which will referred to as the Nephilim, the term Nephilim in the Hebrew means the Fallen ones. Everyone remembers Israel was given Canaan land the land of milk and honey, they just don't seem to remember God commanded them to kill all the women men and Children of the Nephilim race in order to receive it, and allegoric history which leads to them inheriting the Angels first a state at the end of the book, wise men call it heaven. The religious community has no business messing with this book you're not part of it and you're a product of replacement Theology and there's no salvation in that ideology

No. It's all ridiculous silliness people pretend to believe so they all feel unified with a sense of purpose. Of course Eve wasn't made by 'god'. Of course the snake didn't talk. Of course 'god' didn't punish the snake by committing him to go on his belly for eternity. Of course mankind isn't being punished forever because Eve took from the fruit tree. Of course we don't cover our genitals because of shame learned in the fabled Garden of Eden. It's all too bloody silly for words. Of course nobody really and truly believes all that. Surely.
