Lyrics:
It's at times like this the great heaven knows
That we wish we had not so many clothes
So let's loosen up with a playful tease
Like all lovers did through the centuries
We're just following ancient history
If I strip for you will you strip for me?
We're just following ancient history
If I strip for you will you strip for me?
Uh-huh-huh

ALL of Adam Ant's songs are underrated ... Sort of like Gary Numan imo ... From what I understand, they were both somewhat ostracized by the British music scene at the time, and ironically, they did have an appreciation and admiration for each other.

Yep...so true. But it is a reflection of the era we live in. It began to turn sour around 2000 with the election being decided by the Supreme court rather than the voters and then 9/11, and the war that nobody wanted but didn't have the balls to stand up against. Well, must American's anyway. Some of us were very active, protesting, visiting our congressmen, getting signatures, etc. But in the end the economy tanked due to all the financial deregulation (again), and we've been paying for that ever since, psychologically. It is always very fascinating how art reflects back to us our own reality. I don't know if we will ever recover from the mindfuck of turning logic against itself. Or the spreading of lies and presenting them as fact, agreeing to validate any opinion just for its own sake rather than whether it is factual or not. People seem to hate politics, but it affects our lives whether we wish to acknowledge it or not.

I was in my twenties in the 80's, and when the 90's came along it seemed like the music, the clothes, the introspection, and the self-loathing was all like a ten-year hangover after the party of the 80's. Well said and so true. The 80s were so fun and carefree, then along came the 90s and music became angry and bitter with Hip Hop, Grunge pushing the New Wave and 2nd British Invasion out of the picture. We've been suffering ever since. Sure, there's been some great new songs, but they are far and few between. Whereas in the 80s, 9 songs out of every 10 were cool, innovative, original and the music videos were tons of fun.

I'm more than comfortable with my sexuality to acknowledge another man's attractiveness. Adam Ant is a very attractive man whereas I would describe Elvis as handsome. Both terms are in the same ballpark but have slightly different meanings. Both men oozed sex appeal and possessed a swagger that attracted women by the thousands/millions. Their moves and body language just added to their persona and made them larger-than-life. I even dressed like Adam Ant back in the day! I enjoy listening to Adam Ant the same way I enjoy Billy Idol...these are cool, good looking and have incredible music.

I'm wondering if this was done about the same time that Frida's "Something's Going On" album was finishing up since Phil Collins was Frida's producer on the album. "Something's Going On" came out in 1982 and "Strip" was released in 1983.

OH! Jesus, Lordy, Lordy. How in the Goddamned Hell did I End Up Here??!!??!! This was My Favorite Song at the Moment in time I was Trying to Exhaust My Life! Hearing this again a Few or 3 Decades Later... It Sounds Sorta Sillly, Right now. Good for Me! I Do have a Good 30+ Years Ahead of Me and Adam, Well... Twinkling Desires for Him Have Started again... Quick Thought Outa the Blue... How many of Us Music Connoisseur's Have Discovered His Name Is a Play on Words? ADAMANT!!! I'll Love This Guy Till IDie!!!!

I like everyone here loves "Adam Ant" but what I truly love and respect this is openness about mental illness, how it affects all of us and how we need more support whether you're in the US or the UK there's not enough out there to help us do the one thing we want to do more than anything...... Be a contributing member of society. We're not asking for help. What we're really asking is that someone give us purpose again

On this day in 1984 {March 31st} a video of Adam Ant's "Strip" was aired on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Strip" was at position #61 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the previous week it had peaked at #42 {for 1 week} and it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... It had just a little bit more success in his native United Kingdom were it reached #41... Between 1980 and 1995 the London native had twenty three records on the UK Singles charts, ten made the Top 10 with three* reaching #1, "Stand & Deliver" for five weeks in 1981, "Prince Charming" for four weeks in 1981, and "Goody Two Shoes" for two weeks in 1982... His first twelve charted records were under the name, 'Adam and the Ants'... Adam Ant, born Stuart Leslie Goddard, will celebrate his 65th birthday this coming November 3rd, 2019... * He just missed having two more #1 records when his "Antmusic" {1981} and "Kings of the Wild Frontier" {1981} both peaked at #2...

I once heard half this song on the music video in the 80s. The tune stuck in my head ever since. I didn’t know the artist. Over the years, I tried searching for this song using incorrect lyrics I misheard/misremembered. None of my friends recognized the tune. Finally, today while watching a clip from the movie Don’t Mess with the Zohan I heard the song, looked up the soundtrack to the film and decades later, I’m hearing the song I once loved when I was a kid! Thank you Adam Ant and Adam Sandler.
