What is the reasoning for clocking brake/throttle servo horn square with servo and not centerline of vehicle?

Adam I noticed you didn't have the spring on your throttle linkage. is there a reason why and what do you use as a throttle return? also what Springs do you use on the brakes? thank you for all the support. I have a new mbx7r because of your great vids!
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 7 жыл бұрын
Most throttle return springs cause a bind and don't fully return the carb to neutral if power is lost. It is required for our ROAR Nationals, but the return spring isn't required to actually work. Here are a couple of links to the springs I use. Thanks! amzn.to/2rbLf2Y amzn.to/2rmM8Tu

awesome thanks Adam. do you use a rubber band on the throttle?
@Roboterblut
@Roboterblut 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, what i don't understand on ths method: If you look straight into the carb, the idle gap is hidden by the venturi, since it is reducing the diameter of the carb. If you let the Servo now pull the Carb exactly 6.5 mm, it wouldn't open alle the way of the venturi wouldn't it? aren't you losing Power with this method?
@adamdrake8006
@adamdrake8006 7 жыл бұрын
I understand, but it depends on the venturi you're running. This method may not be prefect, but it's what I've used and works for me. I don't like removing the filter boot at the track because of dust and dirt.
@Roboterblut
@Roboterblut 7 жыл бұрын
Adam Drake THX for your reply. what I do is measuring the distance on the full open carb while at home when in a clean surrounding without the boot. I write down that distance for all my enginesand Venturi sizes so if I need to adjust the linkage i just pull out the notes and adjust the EPA until I get the correct reading on the calipers.
@adamdrake8006
@adamdrake8006 7 жыл бұрын
That works and is a great method.
@charlesbonkley
@charlesbonkley 4 жыл бұрын
@@Roboterblut Just curious...are you measuring the distance of full open with or without the venturi/reducer in place? In order words, "full open" should always match the venturi size, correct, and not the full bore of the carb?
@Roboterblut
@Roboterblut 4 жыл бұрын
@@charlesbonkley yes, I measure fully open with a venturi. I write that down, let's say 8.5mm pull with a 7mm venturi, so the slider opens the venturi all the way.
@nate1593
@nate1593 7 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, Thanks for posting this. Question, When measuring the carb slide to match your venturi how do you factor in the existing idle gap if at all given you cannot see it? Cheers
@adamdrake8006
@adamdrake8006 7 жыл бұрын
Hello, I understand, but it depends on the venturi you're running With a smaller venturi this will make a bigger difference. This method may not be prefect, but it's what I've used and works for me. I don't like removing the filter boot at the track because of dust and dirt.

Ok the open throttle EPA. Use the nominal length of venturi or is good subtract the Idle gap size?
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 3 жыл бұрын
I just use the venturi size because the idle gap is very small. In most cases just .5mm or less.

Sorry one more question do u use rubber band for throttle return and how do u install it?
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, I don't normally use a throttle return spring or rubber band because with most servos it won't return the servo to neutral if you have power loss.
@charlesbonkley
@charlesbonkley 4 жыл бұрын
@@AdamDrake Thank you for stating this. I don't understand the rubber-band technique because of what you have said. If the radio cuts out, then hopefully one has a fail-safe option on the radio for protection. For LiPo cut-out (some electrical switches have this feature) or general power loss, the servo will HOLD in its current position. You'd need one hell of a rubber band to pull the servo back and go to idle!

Can someone plz help me? I just purchased a 8ight T RTR 1/8 scale truggy. I broke the ball cup on the servo to throttle/brakes. Losi dont seem to sell these cups. They did TLR4402 but discontinued. Now they sell a gen 3 tray that has the parts TLR4401 but i dont need all that.. just a ball cup.. Can i throw all that away and set up a universal throttle/brake actuation? Or anyone know the specific size of said ball cups/turnbuckle?

And what about the throttle trim? I got lost trying to do all that to my car... First of all, we set the Idle Speed Screw, right? Make sure it's 1-1.5 mm open and we're good. AFTER that, we make sure the dead band is a "business card" open from the servo arm. AND FINALLY we set the EPA depending on the venturi we use? Am I right? Ok. IF yes, ALL of these, will be set wrong IF the trottle was trimed by the time we opened our radio... No? Sorry for my bad english and also sorry if it's a stupid question. I'm just new to the hobby!
@AdamDrake

The trim should be used just for fine tuning the adjustments.

Hey Adam quick question: in this video your transmitter has the brake end point at 30. how do u get enough brake power if only using short end point? and it’s hard to see but is your rear brake linkage rod installed differently to your front brakes ? Looks like you have installed an extra adjusting clamp on the end of the front brake linkage rod. Could u try untangle my brain cos I almost had bad crash at end of the strait from not having any brakes with end point of 30 not being enough to engage the brakes lol
@AdamDrake
@AdamDrake 6 жыл бұрын
Hello, when you run a small gap between the brake rotor and the brake pads (.5mm) and also run less deadband for the brakes, the EPA can be set much lower. The front brake rod is from a Losi buggy. It's fine if you need to increase your EPA to get the desired brake force you need. Adam
