He quit his classical voice teacher because he wanted pop glamor but still did some light opera here and there before he got some broadway shows. Flawless Passaggio. The BEST. You can hear him do Brigadoon - come to me, bend to me - recorded by the theater live in mono - there using those skills but there's no video from the venue.
