Now I love it ))) Saving the Best Scfi since Deep Space 9 or Next Generation or Battlestar has my full support))) Since America is in a race to see who will dominate this century through space supremacy the Expanse is telling a Story that inspire and warns. The commitment to Science is so rare because it is hard... probably why the genre is called hard Scfi!!!!!! Other examples of Hard Scfi would be Arrival, 2001, Moon, Ad Astra.... The Expanse is often mistaken for Space Opera and it does have its action, politics, detective noir, mystery, fantasy, drama and cultural sub-genres.... By holding it all together with a golden thread of science it has created a world of real danger, stakes and cost. Hard Scfi by most experts is the hardest to get right or even be consistent with. It takes a very vigilant crew, cast, writers, producers, effects, props, and directors. @john doe I think naomi's our sense of justice. She's willing to get her hands dirty, but always to side with the oppressed. She can be our conscience in the sense that Prax and Anna are more secondary characters, they're not part of the story for a good chunk of it (prax being only In the Caliban's war arc, and Anna being here only for the end of Caliban's war and Abbadon's gate. I haven't read the books, so I'm hoping they come back in later seasons.)

The Expanse is so perfectly cast and written that it reminds me of how perfectly cast and written was the Firefly series. I feel so grateful to see The Expanse saved from the fate that befell Firefly, while also feeling sadness that Firefly was never given the same chance for multiple seasons of great storytelling. Choosing to see the glass as half full though, I’m just glad I lived to see Firefly, Serenity, The Expanse, The Orville, and Mythbusters/Tested all become reality. Life is good!

I have not started reading yet. If I had read the books first, I might have a totally different perspective. I was caught up in the emotion of seeing a science fiction series be saved from oblivion like I wish Firefly had been. I may change my mind once I find out how the source material portrays the characters.

To Dominic's comment about her feeling a bit 'wooden' comparatively in earlier seasons, despite the fact that none of us can really see it, that actually works for the character. After all, they were not friends at the start, and everyone keeps a level of stoicism in any professional relationship until the familiarity and trust develops. It helps weave the tapestry of Naomi's character arc even deeper. Well played....

If there's any show that deserves to be continued, it's The Expanse. What a fucking diamond in the rough... and without question the best long-running sci-fi series I've ever watched. I had no idea this show even existed, never even saw a TV advertisement for it. Not once. Honestly, the thing that got me to check it out was the company TellTale just announced a video game spinoff for it, and it looked interesting. I was like "Wtf is this and why haven't I heard of it before? It seems big budget and high quality." Looked it up, and instantly started binge watching and fell in love with it. I was hooked from start to finish. If you like sci-fi stuff and never heard of The Expanse, do yourself a favor and go watch it right now. This is an incredibly well done show, it just for some reason never got the kind of mainstream attention or advertising that other smash hit tv series do.

The presentation never ceases to improve. At the same time there isn't the same amount of intrigue and mystery as the earlier seasons (especially one) but I haven't read the books, the conflicts between our main factions probably complexify quite a bit once the colonisation starts. But the two previous arcs felt a bit like an interlude to ease us into a new phase of the story, and I'm hyped for what's next.

I think Dominque looked so very cool with her frohawk. She always looks very attractive but I think the old doo suited the character more. It gave her more of an edge like where her Belter roots would be from.

Wes is my favourite actor on the show, not to say anything against the rest, they're all amazing, but Wes is so physically different from how Amos is described in the books, yet he nails the performance, and I absolutely believe he is as menacing and powerful as the book version. And then I see him in behind-the-scenes moments, on Twitter or in interviews, and he's the actor I'd most like to meet and chat to, because he just seems so incredibly nice!!

@@kylebolton8147 Well, I'm not saying it's amateurish, they do act as your typical pro actors would (for better or for worse), it's the cast themselves I'm having problem with. It's hard to find a face there I can actually sympathize with. Maybe that politician, but I haven't managed to watch past the first third of the initial episode yet and only saw the other people act very briefly. So far I liked the book better, but the scene with that guy being all needy with the Navigator made me cringe (guess it was the same with the TV series producer). Maybe I just don't like young actors (and probably the newer generations in... well... general), but for some reason this cast is just killing me whenever I look at them.

I only just came across this show in November (2019) and have to say, it’s my new favorite syfy series. I just got caught up and am itching for season 5. At first I thought wow, they are spending a lot of time in the vomit comet. Then probably half way through episode one, I realized that it had to be all practical effects. And, wow. I would love to see Adam do an extended build of the Rocinante with individual decks. The ship could be held together using magnets or clips to provide easy access to the decks while there's an aluminum frame to add structural support.

He should take a cue from the Apollo Capsule Door project and do a collaborative 1/4 scale model of the Roci using industry prop people and people from the RPF.

best scifi series ever. shame firefly wasn't released in the last few years, I'm sure that would have been saved with streaming services.
