You are correct it was sized for Collins and he was going to do the testing, but because of availability, an ILC engineer did the initial testing wearing it. Something that I used to use in the automotive world for revitalizing rubber parts was coconut oil, I found it worked better than linseed
@patreekotime4578 Жыл бұрын
This is a blend of synthetic and natural latex. The mixture is itself unstable. Linseed oil is also very unstable and I wouldnt put it on anything for preservation purposes. It yellows badly, hardens, and shrinks as it offgasses, eventually cracking badly. It never fully cures, but goes into a constant state of decomposition as it oxidizes. And the addition of mineral spirits will quicken the hardening as well as destabilize the oil. It is not even recommended as a furniture polish any more, and it certainly wont keep soft materials supple. The boiled linseed oil you find in hardware stores is an especially nasty product that includes stand oil and metallic hardeners. It might make a rubber part appear nice and shiny for a little while, but eventually you will be looking at a cracking, dissolving mess.
